Re: 5th and Main (Northwest Corner)

I honestly don’t have any problem unencumbering private lots now that that is out of the bag.

But it’s very expensive and very controversial.

But the state is never going to risk their powers to build infill. Come on.

There are means to get it done.

Blue. It’s a color. Not just a color. It’s a color that starts with b. What’s b? It’s a letter. A letter that eventually spells blue.

Re: Sprint Center opening day pictures

It goes back to the design when it was supposed to be very clean because of the design competition and trying to get a team. Times change, it’s okay. But let’s not pretend it’s not just advertising. The problem is you lose a lot of value because everyone still calls it the sprint center. So they hav...

Re: OFFICIAL - Reverb (1800 Walnut)

The market hurt them. There are a lot of other new places leasing around here and all of them have more amenities and especially outdoor space. Not unimportant during corona. They had more limited room types than most. Early on they weren’t offering any incentives. And their main draw will largely b...

Re: OFFICIAL - KC Star Printing Press

Building a new stadium for sporting in the crossroads Will be a hard shout, but I could see this location working. You can make it compact, add their offices, bars, and stores to create year around business.

Breweries around there would probably be up. No one likes the dead star.

Re: OFFICIAL - KC Star Printing Press

I never liked this building at all. I think it’s going to be super expensive to turn into anything people here are talking about. I think in the long run it will be demolished. It would be cheaper to build as new almost anything. Don’t soccer stadiums run north south? I don’t see the Royals looking ...

Re: OFFICIAL - KC Star Printing Press

ordinance 150548 extended the tax abatement until 2031 can't copy paste it, but there's text in the agreement that requires the Star to pay the full tax payment for 15 years (less payments already made) if they move during that period, to the tune of millions. Does bankruptcy change this at all? I ...

The streetcar expansion doesn't really reduce a negative, it doesn't give better access to hotels from the stadium.

The Cincinnati stadium however is downtown so theirs could help
FIFA cares a lot about fan zones too. Connecting the plaza wouldn’t be considered nothing.

Re: Sprint Center opening day pictures

You're not making your case very well either I’m just offering anecdotal information. I lived right by it and with security it takes forever to get in for popular events. That’s the truth. When people say I don’t know because Kc is different when I spend most of my time in countries that don’t know...

It took almost two hours to get in lol And kindly fuck off with the "kc doesn't know how things work" narrative. You don't know me and you sound like a fucking prick. Re: Sprint Center opening day pictures

I had friends going to a concert and I think I brought them drinks like three times from my apartment it took so long to get in. It's well known as being a horrible arena to get into. I think this may be a typical KC impatience situation. Same issue as “there’s no parking” downtown. Once doors are ...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

The city has cheaper ways to unencumber parking than building a massive garage that there is no demand for. And they are? My take away from TOD Activist is that the larger, uglier parcels literally require the replacement parking to be on the same lot. That's who I was kind of referring to. I do th...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

I don't think it's as extreme as you think. The problem is that there is abundant parking at the destination downtown. There's no destination where you can't simply park close by. There's no use case for park and ride because what you're talking about is people driving all the way to downtown and th...

Re: OFFICIAL - City Club Apartments (former Midwest Hotel)

It’s about 50% leased. I’m away for a bit, but I’ll take some pictures of the courtyard when I get back. 50% of full build out or just what’s open now ? That’s a good question I don’t know the answer to. I don’t know if they’re counting the whole build or just what they have a tco for. I’ll ask whe...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

I would say the 1% for the arts has a questionable track record. Sometimes I find the artists are less concerned with complimenting the design than just doing whatever the fuck they want. Every place that pitches kc includes a fountain and then they take it out on design because it's too expensive. ...

Two diffrent shades of yellow make me think thats not the final color. I believe it is. They're taking down the elevators so I think it's set. I can't believe they're going to scaffold back up to do more painting. It's kind of a jigsaw puzzle design. Tomorrow if it's nice I'll try to take pictures ...

Some pictures of the courtyard under construction.

Understand the design choice isn't for everyone. I'll take pictures of the rooftop and common area when it's not rainy and gross.
