Lechon! Yum!

This is pretty exciting. Wife and I traveled to Philippines for a bit last year. Hopefully I get to go back.

Re: Boulevard Chocolate Ale: The White Whale

It seems to be relatively plentiful at the craft beer type stores in the twin cities. Of course, there are seemingly very few boulevard fanatics here. It works out nicely for me because they seem to distribute nearly everything (even the limited smoke stacks) here... :D

C Withers closing makes me really sad. It was good stuff and he's a super nice guy.

Re: Sidewalk cafe regulations up for review

Funnily enough, quite the opposite is happening in Minneapolis - there was a proposed regulation going around that would severely limit the operation of outdoor / sidewalk operations - hours, capacity, etc.  With an exemption for the author's district (nice, huh?)

Re: beer.

Glad you liked it.  I think they have drier variations, but I'm not sure.  Which Surlies did you end up with?  The cynic and coffee bender are my year-round favorites.  Abrasive is awesome too, but I'd be surprised if any of that's still around.

Re: beer.

And if either of you are cider fans, pick up some Crispin.  Best cider ever.  Get the honeycrisp and the saint if they are available... fantastic.  I'm not a cider guy but they are awesome.

Re: beer.

Blue Max in Burnsville and Four Firkins in St. Louis Park have the best selections in the metro that I have found.  I'd also suggest picking up some Lift Bridge - Farm Girl is my favorite, a saison, but all of their stuff is good.

Whole Foods X Aldi = Trader Joe's.

Re: hyde park: believe the hype?

We went through the neighborhood yesterday on a visit to KC just to check out how things were going (and to make sure our tenants aren't trashing the house... they're keeping it cleaner than we did!  Whew!), and noticed a distinct lack of for sale signs around, or at least a lot less than 6 months a...

I've been buying my supplies from http://www.midwestsupplies.com/

It helps that I live in the twin cities now, but they do ship. They have an excellent starter kit.

Re: beer.

So. I recently moved to Minneapolis, and discovered the joy that is Surly.  They make non-pasteurized beer, so it doesn't make it too far from Minneapolis, but it's really awesome.  My favorites thus far are the Coffee Bender (oatmeal brown with coffee), Wet (wet-hopped IPA), and Cynicale ("gre...

Re: Beer Kitchen in Westport

Checked this place out last night to catch a bit of the Iowa game.  I had the turducken burger and a Founders Dirty Bastard.  The wife had a coup and salad combo.  Everything was pretty good, but man, one person with an annoying voice totally ruins that space because it just clatters and echoes arou...

Re: Cost to Replace Furnace and A/C

We had a heat pump put in about 3 years ago and the total cost (pump + furnace + all new ductwork) was about 10K.  Add 3K for when the first heat pump was cut off the wall of our house and carried away the weekend after we had it installed  :x

I think it's beers originated before 1970.  The best is the 7 oz bottles of High Life - 8 for $6 or something like that.
