Re: New Chiefs Stadium

I think the majority of stadiums have apartments directly adjacent or near adjacent to them. There aren't that many new baseball stadiums built yearly, or even evey decade. Newest is Atlanta Braves' stadium and that goes way back to 2017 (https://espnlafayette.com/the-ten-newest-stadiums-in-major-le...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

Highly endorse NOT moving Arrowhead. Especially not to Downtown. Too much parking. Even fewer uses per year than a baseball stadium. Heck no.

We are talking 80000 people vs. 30-40k. Big difference.

Considering no language has been proposed, you are absolutely making this up. Please point me to exactly what language has been released and which election it will be going on for regional transit funding.

Just booked flights in November to come over. A grand and two connections to get to KC again. :puke: A direct link to Europe can't come soon enough. Flew in last evening (5pm) Terminal B. Cafes, restaurants all shut down and terminal dark/abandonded looking. Elevator to short term parking broken and roped off with no signs of fixing anytime soon.

Agreed. They can’t demolish the whole buildings until they’re ready to do the project. That way they have to keep the facade too, and need to make sure they couldn’t just leave it up unfinished in perpetuity.

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

We have all the damn sports architecture firms here, one or a consortium of them have to be able to come up with a way to renovate Arrowhead. If it stays there a dome is a must. I just think it's probably not the best business decision for the Hunt family. The area all around TSC is run down. How c...

Updates/discussion on Zoning Laws

An absolutely insane day for @cayimby. The California legislature passed: (1) AB 2011, legalizing mixed-income multifamily in nearly all commercial areas; (2) AB 2097, effectively ending parking mandates near transit; and (3) AB 2221, which further streamlines ADU permitting. https://twitter.com/mn...

Specifically in the EV being barried by the Government district, except for the Long Lines, Bolling Federal, and City Hall/Court, none of the other government buildings and lots seem like they would be impossible to develop. Even the government surface parking lots could be re-developed.

Sunflower Development Group, which wants to build the $41 million, 129-unit tower on an acre of land at the corner of Sixth Street and Central Avenue. The developer sought a rezoning of the property and an amendment to the city’s master plan. All were approved. Commissioners voted 8-1 when it came ...

Lucas has basically no control over the KCPD. They can do other things to help combat crime, but it is basically minimal and some could hurt the city or be expensive which is hard to justify when you have to spend 20-25% of budget on PD anyways. For example, close all bars sooner and reduce number o...

Re: Panasonic Electric Vehicle Battery Plant (Mystery Kansas 'Mega Project')

Sounds like Oklahoma may get a plant in addition to Kansas. After being competitors for a $4 billion, 4,000-job electric vehicle battery manufacturing facility, Kansas and Oklahoma may become something else: megaproject siblings. Panasonic Corp. picked Kansas over Oklahoma in July, choosing to put a...

It really sucks. I wish they would just sell and build a new purpose build bank on one of our other numerous parking/vacant lots throughout that area.

I mean if we tear down municipal and bartle and Marriott I think there is a chance. Some on this board would be all for that level of teardown. Those buildings are old and dirty. Assuming this comment from the Bartle thread is directed towards me (and it isn't sarcasm - I don't think it is), I thin...
