Re: Seiden's Furs Appears to Be Closing
How did this thread start with them 'closing' in 2007 and just now they are actually closed/leaving. Worlds' longest going out of business sale?

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza
I believe as well that the decision is that an underground rebuild is too expensive, beyond that no specific usage of the square has moved forward.

Re: Historic Old Northeast
I hope we can get some renderings soon. It looks like a great proposal. If I recall several pages back, the developer behind the previous plan basically said "well, nobody wants this lot so I'm going to put no effort behind a design plan and build a shitty one story strip mall." Glad they are being ...

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza
Agreed, for the City to be building the project and be so hyped on affordable housing, at a minimum they could add a small amount of housing above the space.

Re: Waddell & Reed - 14th & Baltimore
With this increased development and future taxes down the line, it's just one more big name that is going to be in favor of building a cap over the 670 loop. If that would occur, their property values would go from 'highway drone' to Central Park adjacent. https://cityscenekc.com/wp-content/uploads/...

Re: Companies moving downtown
Agree on making this its own thread.
Other ideas for ground level floor besides retail or parking:
Lobby
Coffee shop
Waddell and Reed customer facing office? Don't these guys see people face to face at all?
Restaurant/cafe

Re: North Plaza Hotel- 46th and Broadway
They are very nice buildings. I know one concern for people will be that there is no Spanish features to match the plaza. I agree with this. I'm all for 'less is more,' but some minor aesthetic nods to the Spanish style in the area would improve the design. They are two quality designs though in my...

Re: PortKC launches new inland port development
I wonder if they'll close the small port facility in the West Bottoms if this becomes a reality. I imagine it’d be easier to consolidate all river traffic, I didn’t even know the WB port was still in operation, what do they even process over there? it reopened in 2015 Given they have rail connectio...

New render posted by Jon Stephens and re-tweeted by PortKC today? Ongoing conversations with MODOT about this inland container port. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EK9nukkXUAAmqys?format=jpg&name=4096x4096 I really agree that this seems to be a great idea that Kansas City can really drive the market fo...

Re: Beacon Hill
Thanks for all the great pictures, Fang. The Beacon village looks like a really great infill development. I don't think they're going to have difficulty selling those homes. Hopefully more density in the area will follow. Lots of trees and scrub land around there. I don't know if it was posted here,...

Yes, the aerial provided by Cityscene does not align with that rendering either. No third floor setbacks or veranda balconies.

Re: OFFICIAL - East Village
Sounds like a good proposal, and I did forget that Jonathan Arnold had Berkshire money, the fact that they were proposing another similar building while the first one is still finishing up is really exciting for them and the area. There are more surface parking lots along the streetcar line out ther...

Agreed, the announcment really doesn't promise any additional content, just basically that they can't remain a going concern based off pure ads. I wonder if they evaluated the Patreon route?

Where in the Xroads is the next 10+ story building most likely to get built? Like actually in the pipeline. Not just where you think one should go. Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?
well its the loc that former city mgr hinted at....and as long as you can leverage IRS/Fed Reserve/Hallmark parking garages + 27th street stop for streetcar then it probably works. Maybe walkable to other amenities, not really and kind of an island in that context. I could see that working if we we...
