Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Lieutenant Governor, and St. Louis native, Mike Kehoe spoke at Downtown luncheon last week. He has been integral in many KC projects and spoke/speaks very highly about KC leaders including Lucas and Platt. He praised KC for what we are accomplishing, and noted that is not the case in St Louis, and t...

Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?
I wonder what the housing stock would look like if KCT spent half as much time doing things rather than stopping things. A solutions based platform seems like a great use of their growing resources and notoriety, it's a shame that their focus has been obstruction. For example: https://www.apricitas....

Re: Parking
Meanwhile, many of my crossroads neighbors are vehemently dying on the sword of "where is everyone going to park". (This is not limited to baseball, fwiw) We exist in a giant parking lot! unbearable parking issues and unbearable traffic are the two greatest things that could ever happen to...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
During a conversation with Populous, I was told that while the current plan includes closing Oak, they are looking at several different options. I get the feeling they don't see it working without closing Oak though. Interesting news to me however, they claim Oak will remain open to pedestrians, inc...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
But cities and neighborhoods shouldn’t be encased in amber. They need to evolve as the city evolves. This is argument is not all that different from a suburban nimby who doesn’t want anything but single family homes in his neighborhood Exactly this. This process has really opened my eyes to the per...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Imagine the crossroads neighborhood not even being part of this conversation. That tells you about everything you need to know Probably because no one thinks of the area that borders Truman Rd as the crossroads. Like who even had a say in defining the boundaries of "The Crossroads Art District...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Ive lived and worked in the neighborhood for 14 years. I am increasingly baffled by the argument that the stadium would ruin our “thriving” neighborhood. By any reasonable standard, the neighborhood is broken, especially the area inside the footprint of the proposed stadium. I am as big of an advoca...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium
The Chiefs are only putting 300 million into this? WTF? And the bridge in the parking lots is the highlight? Meanwhile the Royals are saying they will invest over a billion? Pretty sure the Hunt family has a lot more money than Sherman and pretty sure the Chiefs make a lot more money than the Royal...

Is that your way of telling us you’re a Samsung guy?!
I don’t think it’s some kind of coordinated attack(at least I sincerely hope not), but I know business owners are talking about it, and hesitant to be publicly supportive.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
It's not a very popular idea with crossroads businesses east of oak. It's not jill. It’s far more popular than you’d think if you’re simply going off what Jill and two other owners are saying. Think about it. You come out in support and for some reason this doesn’t happen. You’ve got a X on your ba...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I'm wondering who all were involved in the recent poll the Crossroads Community Association did? I've talked to three business owners tonight, all three boarder the stadium site and they say they were not asked to participate in the poll. Was the poll for business owners only? Business owners and r...

Re: Midtown Area Apartment Boom
The answer is always a land value tax instead of property tax. That way the owner has to improve the land to generate revenue instead of destroying it to reduce property value. Some momentum on this in Colorado. https://schalkenbach.org/land-value-tax-promoted-by-colorado-governor-gets-attention-by...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
At our crossroads community association meeting on Thursday evening to discuss the stadium, multiple property owners on Oak confirmed they have been contacted by Polsinelli about selling. The CCA has been approached by the Royals as well, albeit with zero specifics. Tony was there doing his thing. M...

Re: Capping the Loop
Not really apples to apples, but I love the idea of a playground city. Much to be learned and studied as our urban areas face existential crises. Bias aside, I feel KC might be better equipped to navigate this transition better than others, although depending on the day you might catch me saying the...

I walked by this morning and there were a handful of workers on site. But in general, things have seemed to really stall over the last month.

Re: Tracks 215 Project
We have been in contact with the superintendent. Original finish was spring 2025, now pushed to July. They claim they are basically on schedule, which just astonishes me. I know we are in a different world, but I don't think we can state this enough: the Empire State Building was completed in 410 da...
