Re: COVID19

We locked everything down for March / April and then by May as election season was heating up we opened everything back up and had a debate over wearing masks which led to a major spike. Do you guys actually listen to the irrational things you say before you post them, or just let it rip? To say th...

Re: New Broadway Bridge

IIRC the alternative was a "repair", where the bridge would be shut down for a significant period of time.

Porches aren't big enough, I'd extend them out underneath the upper deck.

Re: Inclusionary Zoning

Seems like it would be good for the developers to organize and present some kind of PR/lobbying campaign. Just hoping that people somehow start to understand the nuances of the local incentives world and stop believing that developers are just a bunch or rich white guys stealing money from schoolki...

Re: Inclusionary Zoning

According to Collison's article there is a 60 day delay before it becomes law.

I hope someone is talking.

Sounds a bit of a political gambit, awaiting a response from developers before the final implementation.

My last three houses have had covered front porches. It is the most desirable feature. The one I have now is the biggest yet, and it has a ceiling fan, and I love it.
If they were a code requirement, the world would be a much better place.

Re: Troost developments

I'd much rather see the CVS torn down and replaced by a larger building. The terracotta details and light fixtures on the Oddly Correct building are really great. If nothing else, hope they can save the shell and expand. https://scontent.fmkc1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/141131724_10101106011720653_23...

Re: Politics

They could likely achieve the same result as term limits by requiring a change in committee chairmanship after a certain number of sessions.

Re: Politics

So what are we all thinking? Term limits for congressional members yet or what? What part of what happened yesterday made you ask this question? Nothing about yesterday, more so to do with both houses of Congress and their inability to pass a coherent stimulus bill, because both sides feel the need...

Re: Politics

Not a legal expert, but how would they go about this? What would be the reasoning? The 25th Amendment requires a majority of cabinet officials to declare to President of Senate and Speaker of House that president isn't able to perform their duties. That's not going to happen. Another impeachment wo...

Re: Politics

Good point. I do see a few cabinet appointees being challenged but from members of both sides. Maybe, but there are plenty of republicans who think presidents should be able to name their cabinet. Dems could even allow some defections. Also, Biden's picks are pretty tame. Well except for Neera Tand...

Re: Politics

It's ironic that in an election that the GOP did remarkably well, it will now be remembered as a Dem sweep, all thanks to Trump's ego. I for one am glad that Biden won't have to worry about cabinet picks or judge confirmations as I think covid, vaccinations and parts of the economy are going to be ...

Re: OFFICIAL - The Gallerie (27th & Gillham)

Definitely did not take advantage of the topography to maximize views. Could have been more like a Mediterranean hillside village. Something like Safdie's Habitat in Montreal or even his Atriums on the Plaza. What little interesting geography there is in KC it is seldom taken advantage of. Usually ...

Re: Politics

No, like how Kelly beats Kobach but Bollier doesn't beat Marshall. Then Marshall shows his ass, keeps pushing right. You are correct about the "out loud" part. Trump will make them say it out loud and it will cost them. I'm not convinced that Kelly/Kobach and Bollier/Marshall are necessarily compar...

Re: Politics

I look forward to a fractured GOP putting extreme candidates up in the 2022 primaries. Kinda like in 2016, when fevered speculation about action on the convention floor to block Trump's nomination and calls from other Republicans for him to drop out as late as the Access Hollywood tape in October g...

Re: Politics

2022 will be a bloodbath for Dems, they are not going to take control of the Senate (and they will lose control of the House). Bit of a harsh take. I think voters were deliberately looking for divided government. They knew that a Trump 2nd term or a Dem sweep would lead to a lot of grand plans that...
