Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project
It looks really good, but it will be a shame to lose park space. It would be really cool to have the area along the trail to the west of the ASB bridge made into more of a park. I did see that they placed poles, presumably for lights.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??
So what do those who actually live in RM think of the container project? Especially if it's just temporary? I would give good odds that 99% of people don't care and will enjoy having a new amenity in their neighborhood. How often do you think people actually care what the Costco in midtown looks li...

Re: New Broadway Bridge
^ the same thing occurred to me this morning. As a river market resident, I'd rather be rid of the overpass than have a duplicate cycling route to nowhere. I assume they would redo part of it, but if the approach to the bridge remains as it is, then we might as well not build a new bridge in the fir...

Re: Highway Removal and Re-Aligment in Downtown
I-35, I-70, and US 71 all need to go, but US 71 might be the most ideal recipient of the grant just because it will probably be the most expensive due to the length. It will probably have a low political cost because industry won't really be affected most cars just use 435 already if they are going ...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??
Does the city still own that little section of walnut street north of second street? without moving the electrical substations, the only other car entrance available for that parcel would be on grand right where the streetcar line to the riverfront will be.

Re: Hyperloop between KC and STL
Everyone involved in this bid should have known it was ridiculous, but this would have been so transformative that they deluded themselves into thinking there was a chance. Now they are looking for something to blame. This reminds me of the Amazon HQ2 thing, except offices are a technology that actu...

Re: Knickerbocker Place Apartments
All traces of the building are gone and the construction fencing was removed. They cut down all the trees, even ones that seemed healthy and not in the way of the demo. I want to think the trees were cut down to make way for something, but I know that the trees were probably just cut down so that KC...

Re: Improving the AT&T Longlines Building
The AT&T building in Manhattan is a lot more interesting, unique and culturally significant, imo. There was recently a whole video game made about it. The AT&T building here in KC has none of that mystery and is much less interesting, but it's alright as is. We need to preserve architecture ...

Good to hear, was a little worried about some of the medium/medium low ratings. Well the NY-NJ Hudson Tunnel project only got a medium-high project justification rating when that really should be critical, to put it all into perspective. I think the only thing that could have raised our rating was ...

Re: Missouri Amtrak Service
Because there's nothing between here and there. Pretty simple. Colorado is focused on their I-25 corridor and I-70 within the state. Doesn’t SW Chief go through KS to south CO? Why doesn’t it just go to Denver. Would at least double that routes traffic immediately. The Chief train skirts the SE cor...

Re: Tracks 215 Project
The rendering seems to imply it. Was thinking would be cool if that walkway were extended along other future buildings along that street, sort of like High Line NYC, maybe not quite as elaborate. That's what I thought at first, but I'm pretty confident that it is just an optical illusion. The piece...

I thought so too, so I looked it up. I can't find anywhere that he was asked point blank about it. However, at a Star debate, Lucas gave Schulte an A- rating, same as Justus gave him. Grades for City Manager Troy Schulte. Justus initially said “B+” then bumped him up to an “A-,” saying he’d done a r...

Re: 2019 Mayor/Council Elections
So, since Shields will almost certainly win 4th-at-large (based on primary results), is there any good reason to not just write in a candidate in protest? I don't really like Westfall, based on what I've read, and even if he got all of Strassle's votes, he would still lose by a 3-1 margin. I would ...

Thanks for the info.

A county qualifies as an outlying county of a CBSA if it meets the following commuting requirements: (a) At least 25 percent of the workers living in the county work in the central county or counties of the CBSA; or (b) At least 25 percent of the employment in the county is accounted for by workers ...

Re: Restoring Residential Density
I’m sure we could do 400k now with fewer rail lines as long as we make use of BRT, scooters/ebikes, and traditional bus. I don't think it's impossible, just way harder than you would think without a train. It's the labor costs of busses. I don't have the time to dig up the numbers but I'll try to s...

NYC Congestion Pricing
New York passes congestion pricing for Manhattan south of 60th: https://ny.curbed.com/2019/4/1/18290323/nyc-traffic-congestion-pricing-state-budget. The policy seems really well thought out (but there is still plenty of time for it to be ruined). The tax credit for those making less than 60k basical...
