Re: Zipcar hourly rental at UMKC

Both UMKC and the City are interested in expanding if we can get the utilization percentages up on the cars at UMKC to a poi...

They did do that, actually.  About 6-8 months ago there was a Teadrops groupon that was only good for the downtown location - I bought one!

a friend of mine at work just started home brewing. any good local clubs to associate with? KC Bier Meisters (http://www.kcbiermeisters.org/) still exists and I know a handful of the members.  They're good guys (and gals!) and helped me with my own first batch last month - a porter that is currentl...

Re: Downtown (Latteland) Not Ready For Crowds?

Totally agree. My blog rant linked below addresses this. Makes no sense. I said this on your blog post and I'll say it again here - the Subway at 9th and Broadway is one of the only places that *does* stay open late every night downtown, busy or not.  Give it your patronage so it will stay that way.

The Good You

Didn't see an existing topic for this new food truck, so here we go! www.thegoodyou.com, or on twitter @thegoodyou.  Organic food, former chef from the Drop, and everything I've seen so far sounds awesome. They'll be at 7th and Broadway on Tuesday, January 18th from 11-1:30pm, and from their website...

Re: Dishes you can't find in KC

Pierogies - well supposedly there is that place in the River Market that continues to delay their opening, but in the meantime, does anyone else serve a good pierogi in KC? You can get Pieroguys Pierogies at a bunch of places locally even though they never opened their storefront in the City Market...

Not to change the topic - but I was told last night that d'Bronx is opening a location on Johnson Drive.  This could be old news to everyone else, but I hadn't heard it before.

Re: Back-in angled parking

Heading to Brickfast on Saturday, I drove down the street and had a "what is wrong with these cars" experience, as I pulled along side the back in spaces.  I really had to think about it, especially since someone had parked front first into one of the spaces.  Either they drove into the s...

Re: Rooftop Park Opens Above Cosentinos

No, it doesn't make sense.  The only reasons I could think of are 1) safety issues with snow and ice, and 2) they don't want people walking on the dormant grass up there since it's still fairly new.  If it's the snow and ice, I would think it'd be pretty easy to just keep it locked if there was act...

Kind of surprised it took so long for this article to be written - they've been in those offices since early summer.

I LOVE this place.  They sell tamales by the dozen ($12 for 12!), and they are some of the most delicious tamales in town.  I can also second the breakfast burrito suggestion - delicious and cheap!

Sign up.  The more people in an area that sign up, the higher chance they'll come here.

There can be a top limit - the groupon for Woodside last week was capped at 650 purchases.

I had a pretty good experience with Insight Eyecare at 16th and Walnut, next to Belle Epoque.  Doctor was nice and courteous and the front desk staff knew my insurance better than I did.

That's my understanding.  Jake, the son who reopened it, seems to have grown up around here and has a number of longtime friends from the area.  I don't know if his parents came here from DC at some point or not, but he's the one running the place.

Re: Pandolfi's Deli

I think the people who run it are from DC. Nope - from an article in Ink a couple weeks ago: The deli is a revival of a Liberty-based institution his parents owned from 2002 to 2006. Mike and Linda (Pandolfi) Hendershot ran the spot with great success until Mike was in a motorcycle wreck. They sold...

I'll also add that they have incredible cannolis - they make their own ricotta cheese, and it is the freshest, most delicious ricotta cheese I have ever had in a cannoli.  They also get the pastry shells from a local bakery (he told me, but I can't remember which one).  All around amazing dessert.
