Re: New Development on 39th st?

FWIW the house directly across Roanoke to the west (the old ROCA/Simply Grooming spot) is for sale - would be nice to see another residential building to bookend that corner. I've heard the small Loretto parking lot on the SE corner is in play for development. Is the house between Meshuggah and the ...

Re: Downtown stats dashboard

With all of the residential development spilling out of the loop into surrounding areas, 40K shouldn't be too far away. But the finish line keeps moving as to what population level will bring increased amenities. I remember when 10K was the goal, then 20, 25, 30 and now it's even higher. I have no d...

Re: New Development on 39th st?

On another note, a lot of general W 39th Street talk get tossed over to the thread under KC Scene so it's good to have a general 39th Street thread more oriented to housing/development because I think we'll be seeing more of it in the next few years. Do you know what happened with that project that...

Re: Main & Armour - Mac Properties

Is Main really going to be reduced to 2/3 lanes as shown in the renderings? I'm all for a road diet but that seems like it would make things a bit of a slog. Your perspective is skewed. There are plenty of streets in KCMO that carry as many cars with fewer lanes. It's a traffic sewer, you'll thank ...

Re: Westport

Bland concept, contrived menu. Not particularly good. And service was slow and TERRIBLE. The brewery did need a freshening up, but the seafood resto concept next door was an expensive misfire and I'm not sure the food warranted bringing a lot of it into Mickey's. It's a good location for the right ...

Tickets are available to anyone ...

Re: Nashville new stadium renderings

I like the initial renderings and goal of the stadium being a multi-purpose asset to community groups and the surrounding neighborhood. But at $2 billion, the smallest stadium in the league at around 60,000 and limited revenue options from parking I have to wonder if the ticket prices are going to e...

It actually makes sense to wrap at least a couple of sides of a parking podium with apartments. Allow access to those floors from the parking level and charge a premium for residence to use those spots on their level.

Re: The KCMO School District

So two high schools TOTAL for all of central KCMO?!? KCPS is about the same size as other 2 HS systems in the metro. Yes, it's the roughly the same number of students, but given the population and number of kids going to charter or private schools, it's not even close. KCK school district has a pop...

Even with warning strips on Broadway the idea of a HAWK crosswalk laughable and still going to end up with a huge problem.

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

So are we to assume the Intercontinental will be renovated given it's designation as a team hotel? The last I heard the hotel was trying to get subsidies for much of the work instead of relying solely on money from IHG/Holiday Inn group.

Re: Three Light

The whole set of data lacks context. Most datasets use Greater Downtown, which goes all the way to 31st and includes Crown Center. Even 20 years ago wouldn't the number of visitors include people going to the City Market on weekends? Science City? Crown Center? And FFA and SillsUSA visitors? Big 12 ...

I follow a Southwest pilot on TikTok who posted a video recently about the new terminal. She said she hoped there would be a Starbucks in it. I commented to let her know that, while there won't be Starbucks, there will be Parisi, City Market Coffee Roasters, Mother Earth Coffee, and Dunkin'. Hopefu...

Re: NFL Draft

City Market might would provide a nice backdrop, and Barney Allis Plaza could be great. Build some bleacher seating on the surrounding streets, program the lights on the Marriott to show each team logo. Maybe intersperse some cool video projection on the front of the Music Hall similar to what other...

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! THE BIG 12 IS DEAD! MAYBE!

The Big 12 bungled the opportunity to add Cincy and Louisville when they added West Virginia and TCU. They should've had agreements with at least some of the PAC 12 schools by now and the longer this draws out the less confidence I have that the Big 12 will come out in the best possible position.
