Might put Westport Ice Cream and Bakery out of business
Yeah, Westport Ice Cream closed a couple of weeks ago...couldn't come to terms with the landlord or something.

Re: Lamp Post District - Mission, KS

I've never understood why Mission didn't do more to develop their downtown with more residential, there's a lot of missed/wasted opportunity there now. Yeah, as a resident, I'd love nothing more than to see some density development here. The current mayor and a good chunk of the council are certain...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

I think I'd rather take an escalator to the lobby, then elevators to the rooms. Not to be all doom and gloom, but seems like anyone wandering around on the street could just slip in, take an elevator to floor X and wait around for an unsuspecting victim.

Drove through Westport yesterday and Papa Keno's now has signage on the door listing City Barrel Brewing. And the Chick-In Waffle opened recently - anyone been?

Re: Lamp Post District - Mission, KS

I despise names like LoJo, SoDo, Lodo, etc. Try for something a little more original and organic than replicating SoHo. That said, I really like this project - it gives a nice bookend to the Gateway project. I've never understood why Mission didn't do more to develop their downtown with more residen...

Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham

I just drove past the area and the lot immediately to the north of the back of Brick House has the foundation poured for a new home...can't imagine they would be too happy but can you really build a home on that lot and not expect changes? Parking is already tough on a Friday afternoon when Sol and ...

Re: GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This could be a bigger disaster than the Royals Parade if a Million plus show up. The parade route looks smaller than last Parade. I really think this needs to be moved from the Plaza to Union Station, you can spread people all around the Urban Core, I don't think the city will be able to handle a ...

Also, Nomad's, the wine bar/coffee shop in the old DB Coopers spot has closed. You sure? I was just there last night and it had a good crowd and no one mentioned anything about them closing. Yep - it's on their Facebook page, along with the W39th St FB page...February 2 is their last day in business.

Re: Crown Center: urban disaster, shining star, or in-between

All the Crown Center restaurants that were managed by the Hyatt (and, presumably after the change, the Sheraton) were pretty bad. Milano, Crayola, etc. I'd be curious if all of them closing is part of the hotel divesting itself of managing all those external businesses. Yes, they were moved to Sher...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

The only american airport that really wow-ed me is the expansion/renovation at IAH a few years ago (and to a lesser extent the international terminal at EWR), but it wasn't really about the building itself, it was the amenities like being able to order food from numerous restaurants using a free tab...

Re: Crown Center: urban disaster, shining star, or in-between

Crayola Cafe has closed after 20 years. They've already started dismantling the space. What a wasted opportunity - there's no way this couldn't have been a money machine if done right. Add a couple of party rooms to rent out and couple those with Sea Life, Legoland, Science City or Kaleidoscope pack...

Re: OFFICIAL - New Downtown YMCA (former Lyric Theater)

It looks smaller than even the new-ish Y in downtown Wichita...and that one has ground-level basketball courts that you can see into from the street/sidewalk. This looks like a building you'd go to to get your driver's license renewed.
