Re: Troost developments

I looked through the feed of the Nextdoor app this morning and a Hyde Park resident is riling up the neighborhood about the development proposed for the four corners of Troost and Armour. Apparently there is a meeting tonight at Central Presbyterian Church at 7pm where MAC be doing a presentation on...

Cityscene is good, but at $6 they would need to add a ton more content for me to be interested.
Yeah, 4-5 articles a week isn't much, especially when they don't appear to do any spelling or grammar checks.

^absolutely worth reading the article just for the rendering of the now-defunct restaurant. Or to learn that the Dallas location earned the reviewer's first and only zero-star review due to (among other things) watery drinks and terrible food. The article mentions that 89% of the location's revenue...

For that much money I would want a bathroom connected to the bedroom, not down the hall. And the walk-in closet of the 2BR doesn't even open into the bedroom or bath? Hope they do well!

Let's be more realistic:

So the future of the area is pinned to one weekend a year. Just get a damn shuttle service.

I just went to the bank across the street last Friday and I swear I counted they were on the 7th floor at that time. Now they're on the top floor!?!

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

I realize the map in the Cityscene article may not be 100% accurate, but isn't the streetcar extension supposed to go further east than it shows? The map has it going only as far as the Northpoint apartment complex announced recently - I thought it was going to end closer to I-29/35?

For a long time there was a height restriction stating that no building could be taller than the arch - is that still in place?

I was surprised to see curtains and other furnishings among the rubble when I drove by the other day. I would've thought they would repurpose more of that kind of thing, but maybe everything was in pretty bad shape.

I'm afraid we're going to need to move this to the Unbuilt KC thread. What was it about the incentives that prevented it from being considered for the Waddell & Reed building?

As the retail environment continues to change toward ordering products online, shipping freight continues to surge. With that we see an increase in the number of shipping containers that bring goods from over...

Great info, JLowe! I'm anxious for this development to open - wish I were younger and richer!! The DGX looks like a little bodega where people can get basics without having to go all the way to Cosentino's, but I'm just not a fan of Dollar General overall. I wasn't aware they were doing these types ...

Looks like the owners of Banksia downtown are opening two new spots in the old Larkburger and Elly's (sp?) - one featuring an expanded menu of their current operation and another with Chinese BBQ, noodles, etc. https://www.kansascity.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/cityscape/article236250548.html

New gym The Foundation is going in at 3800 Summit (formerly iResQ). Looks to be a second location, after one in Manhattan.
