So the future of the area is pinned to one weekend a year. Just get a damn shuttle service.

I just went to the bank across the street last Friday and I swear I counted they were on the 7th floor at that time. Now they're on the top floor!?!

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

I realize the map in the Cityscene article may not be 100% accurate, but isn't the streetcar extension supposed to go further east than it shows? The map has it going only as far as the Northpoint apartment complex announced recently - I thought it was going to end closer to I-29/35?

For a long time there was a height restriction stating that no building could be taller than the arch - is that still in place?

I was surprised to see curtains and other furnishings among the rubble when I drove by the other day. I would've thought they would repurpose more of that kind of thing, but maybe everything was in pretty bad shape.

I'm afraid we're going to need to move this to the Unbuilt KC thread. What was it about the incentives that prevented it from being considered for the Waddell & Reed building?

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

The purpose of shipping container buildings aren't about practicality or economic benefits. As the retail environment continues to change toward ordering products online, shipping freight continues to surge. With that we see an increase in the number of shipping containers that bring goods from over...

Re: OFFICIAL - City Club Apartments (former Midwest Hotel)

Great info, JLowe! I'm anxious for this development to open - wish I were younger and richer!! The DGX looks like a little bodega where people can get basics without having to go all the way to Cosentino's, but I'm just not a fan of Dollar General overall. I wasn't aware they were doing these types ...

Looks like the owners of Banksia downtown are opening two new spots in the old Larkburger and Elly's (sp?) - one featuring an expanded menu of their current operation and another with Chinese BBQ, noodles, etc. https://www.kansascity.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/cityscape/article236250548.html

New gym The Foundation is going in at 3800 Summit (formerly iResQ). Looks to be a second location, after one in Manhattan.

Ridiculous that riverfront property in places like Louisville and Omaha attract high rise residential, but KC ends up with schlock. The affordable housing development looks like a soviet-era block and now this and a squat hotel surrounded by parking and with no street/pedestrian activity? Is anyone ...

Is the chicken on Sunday at char bar any good? I love go chicken go and Gus's fried chicken I agree with Chrizow that there's a limit to how good fried chicken can be, and the chicken at Rye was nothing more than standard IMO. That said, the fried chicken at Char Bar on Sundays is probably the best...

Cafe Trio was successful a half block away from Krokstrom, and the Vietnamese restaurant (I-Pho Tower?) somehow manages to stay afloat, as did the Ethiopian fusion place in the strip mall. All of those places could be considered overpriced, but the owners make them work. Once the apartments above th...

The most recent focus was to market the 2400-2480 buildings that Hallmark vacated over the past few years as well as the lots being developed by Gallerie and Artistry. Maybe CCED isn't able to juggle more balls than that at one time.

UGH Hookah Haven open in vacant spot next to Aladdin Cafe. Wonder if the location on Broadway across from Uptown Theatre is closing?
