Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza
Also having an uneven landscaped park as the roof likely adds a lot. It will be similar to the Kauffman Center’s garage, which was very expensive IIRC

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
Can we agree that the proposed signage is pretty garish? Otherwise, looks like a nice project. I hadn't realized the building was so empty. No worse than a lot of NOW LEASING banners slung onto apartment buildings downtown. The professional building and the courthouse lofts STILL have banners stuck...

So is the building being demolished or just vacated? KCK won’t even have a downtown left if it tears down much more

Re: OFFICIAL - East Village
I like as much stuff downtown as the next guy but I don’t see how sending an art school almost 4 miles away from the giant art museum it already sits next to makes any sense. Nuking one of the only instances of synergy in the entire metro. On the other hand, UMKC definitely needs more of a downtown ...

Re: OFFICIAL - East Village
It would be great if this area focused on residential of various types and some office development. This is the perfect area to skip the retail. We have plenty of retail downtown and plenty of retail capacity. We can’t keep making several small, self serving pockets that discourage residents from g...

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza
The new designs of BAP always show the plaza descending down to grade in front of Municipal Auditorium. With its massive limestone wall, I think there should be a permanent "Art on the Mart" style projection show, like they have on the riverwalk in Chicago. It brings people out! https://ww...

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza
Sorry, I’m going to bump this, even though it’s on the same page. I think there’s a middle ground between BAP being a raw plaza and being developed. I think the goal should be figuring out how it can be better internally into the convention complex. Maybe the overall footprint of the convention cent...

Central to Main, 6th to 8th. Six blocks. Two more than EC.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Six square blocks. More than East Crossroads, and that's what makes me mad. It was dismissed for being "too small" and then they chose something smaller. I don’t think there are 6 square blocks of open contiguous land in the north loop. Are you counting the interstate? Getting that closed...
