Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham
Well, this is disappointing. Seems like a downgrade from the previous proposal. I would much rather keep the original building. I know it is not a truly historically significant building, but when we have already demolished so much, we are losing any sense of place. Also, would prefer to have the r...

Re: Kansas City Workhouse on Vine
Rumor is that the Crossroads KC outdoor venue would move here, not an addition. Interesting. That is some valuable property in the Crossroads now. I wonder what Stretch's plans would be. Sell it? Invest into a building on his own? With insane popularity (on nice weekend days) of Bar K they could co...

Re: Kansas City Workhouse on Vine
It came to my attention on Nextdoor.com that this going before City planning on 2/4. Simple developer description: Tim Duggan, Beacon Hill 2000 Vine Street is a proposed mixed use redevelopment of two historic former public works buildings that will include offices, a community event space, small re...

It appears there is work going on inside the former location of "The Drop" as there is a large roll-off dumpster on site now.

Re: Misc Crossroads News
Ironically had Broadway Deli for lunch today. One of my favorites downtown for a sandwich. My wife said it was crowded when she picked it up and no indicators of closing, but who knows.
I can still get M&M Bakery though! Not a direct competitor, but great eats for the money.

Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham
Email from the Union Hill Neighborhood Assoc.this morning stated the following for an upcoming meeting:
"...will also be discussing the new Cajun themed restaurant that is set to move into the Rockafire location"
That is good news that it won't go sitting empty for too long.

Re: OFFICIAL - City Club Apartments (former Midwest Hotel)
So, the Dixie Belle was where The Rieger is located, correct? That is what I remember from the early to mid 90s. At one point did it move across the street?
I guess I could ask my next door neighbor, he is "Missie B" and was the owner. He's a nice guy!

Sly is a neighbor of mine. If im2kull can confirm what activity I am most likely to see him doing outside his house, and what part of the house, I can confirm. Or I can go bang on his door and demand answers!

Re: Union Hill Development
While I am glad they recycled this into affordable housing this lot with its great views would be ideal for a low or mid rise building. I think there is bigger opportunity next door, Union Hill Day School. They have a long waiting list to attend and could probably use a larger location. Something n...

Her price points are good. The 2 egg meat and potato breakfast for $8.00 is $12.00 at Cafe Europa. I know this is an old post, but my wife and i recently went to to Attitude and really enjoyed it. The interior is full of character. The was a number of customers there too, but they probably deserve ...

Re: The Future of Crown Center
Union Hill here, that would absolutely take away the depth of the view of downtown. The surface lot just north of what is being sold could be built to 25 stories with no disruption to Union Hill's views as it is today. So you do take issue with a tower being built there eventually? Where is "t...

Re: The Future of Crown Center
No one, not even Union Hill homeowners can ever seriously object to anything of height being built on Crown Centers south lots. That model showing office high rises on those blocks sat next to the Streetcar in Crown Center shops for over 40 years, even before Union Hill was cleared for housing. Tha...
