Here's an old masterplan.

Re: Columbus Park Redevelopment

Thanks Chris! You're welcome. Took a little while for it to be posted to Compass, but now its on there and we can track it. The application states that this is part of the Columbus Park lofts, so I imagine it'll take a similar design and approach to what's been built nearby. If not, I'll be pleasan...

I imagine land ownership and the desire to just get it done all at once. If not that, maybe the economics works better instead of splitting the buildings up a bit.

Re: 7400 Broadway- Apts

Looking at the plans, I'm impressed by how much better this is than the NDPJ/NorthPoint project at 31st and Wyandotte (Park Reserve site). That site is next to the streetcar line and in an area where the walkability factor needs to be increased, yet the street-level on all sides is horrendous. Meanw...

Re: KU/KCK <-----> TSC East/West Transit

I get why some prefer Linwood, but 31st seems more suitable in my view for high-capacity transit. The built environment is there already and it's only a block north of Linwood, so you'd be serving the same passengers. Additionally, both streets are wide enough to have dedicated right-of-ways for a s...

Re: KU/KCK <-----> TSC East/West Transit

Picture, if you will, yourself sitting in the street car, returning to downtown from a losing Chiefs game. It is packed and you are surrounded by drunk, angry fans. I would rather walk. Or even crawl back, naked, over broken glass. Just hop across the state after a Cubs vs.Cardinals game to experie...

Re: 12th and Broadway site: RFP for mixed use

If the infill project is indeed 15 stories tall, the views from the upper five floors (presumably residential) should be pretty sweet. Well overhead of the convention center and down the slope toward Crossroads. Unfortunately a building here can’t be that tall because of the 130ft height limit. I d...

I really want Mayor Q to win mostly because I just want keep Brian Platt in there Brian Platt has been really good and seems to like what he's doing. He needs to be retained. Do City Managers have tenure limits? Also, here's the Rizzo campaign website. Not much on it in terms of policy: https://riz...

Re: 2023 KCMO Election

Seems like a joke candidacy, but Andrew E. McGuire is "running" for mayor. He posts a lot on his Facebook and a Google Search revealed he sued the city over not finding his stolen scooter. https://www.facebook.com/AEM4MAYOR https://casetext.com/case/mcguire-v-city-of-kansas-city I doubt an...

Re: 12th and Broadway site: RFP for mixed use

Beyond KC Southern working on a proposal here, I know of two other firms presently working on proposals for this site with another one or two likely to join in soon. There could be more, but the process seems to be getting fairly stacked so far. I have faith each group will bring something special t...

Re: KC in TV and Movies

Interesting how in most of those shots, those buildings are still there just it's not bustling anymore. I'm sure if Petticoat Lane still existed today, it would once again be a premier area for shopping downtown. What's left of it is more or less a lifeless office street. Thanks Town Pavilion for no...

^^The FAA would shit themselves like they did with everything else that’s new and proposed in the neighborhood. I’m in for a redesign. I think another factor that concerns me is if the city allows that horrific ground floor to happen, then many future developments will see that it's okay to do that...

Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?

Just noticed this. Their KC Tenants propaganda is steeped with "BLM" reference. The fist-in-the-air imagery used repetitively. After the fall of BLM (donations directed to Los Angeles upper-bracket real estate, "defund police" baloney, violence, undisputed links to Marxist doctr...

Not surprised at that move. I read the letters submitted to the planning commission and every single one, except one, was for the historic designation. I sent my drone up here today and wanted to see what the view North would be like from a hypothetical 8 floor building @ 90ft up (not allowed due to...

Re: Americo Plaza Tower (Former Holiday Inn)

Knowing that the economy is a bit wobbly right now, I’d say patience is key with this one. I imagine this will be a big one when the time comes, but for now there are too many variables that might be giving the development team pause. Variables like the economy, whether or not Block’s Highrise on Ma...
