Re: 2023 KCMO Election

I would rather have someone in office who lies and nitpicks (like all politicians do) instead of someone who takes bribes to do someone’s dirty work at the government level. Platt has done a lot of good here (from what we can see). As long as he doesn’t take bribes, I’m fine with him and I imagine m...

I tried to buy 901 Grand a month ago. The current owner says he’s not selling.

Re: 2023 KCMO Election

My opinion of Platt hasn’t changed any. I’ve seen way worse while I was doing things in St. Louis, some of which went out to the media and some that hasn’t yet. Reading that story, it makes it sound like the request to lie was for things like mileage and not other things. I’m interested to hear more...

Interior demo happening. Not sure if it has been bought or not but Newmark is the listing agent on the sign and it's not on their site. Owner is Sentinel Acquisitions so seems like that maybe a new owner When I contacted Newmark a while back about buying this property, they said it was under contra...

Potentially we end up with 4 up at the same time if Hyatt House restarts soon.

The next crane to go up is for LuxLiving’s project on Broadway

Re: Sky and Cordish $253M project

I thought the 500 units are split between two parcels. Not saying this means the buildings will be short or anything, but if each side of the street gets 250 each, then you could have two, 20-story buildings. Condensing all 500 into one building would be unheard of here (at least for right now). Ye...

Re: Main & Armour - Mac Properties

Why would they not start construction this till 2024? https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2022/12/06/mac-properties-armour-main-city-plan-parking.html There are still supply chain shortages and labor might be hard to come by, complicating a construction process. Waiting another 13 months or...

^You’re speaking the truth though, not like he’ll listen. I had the chance to chat with Johnathan Duncan the other night at Justin Short’s event. A nice guy and easy to talk to. I plan to chat with him again about ideas and how shared goals can make Kansas City much better. We agree that in exchange...

The old building next to Calvert’s is being demolished today after an apparent fire last night (based on Twitter). The situation has resulted in Streetcar service being suspended since yesterday evening.

^Even when that was a real pitch several years ago, I was never for it because of the sea of parking and the demolition of the last few near north riverfront buildings that, at the time, were capable of being redeveloped.

Widening I-70

The dreaded discussion (for many) heats up again. State Senator Bill Eigel (R-Weldon Spring) has pre-filed a bill to explore using money from the State's $6 Billion surplus, and taking 2% of general revenues ($300 million this year) each year for 10 years, to yield $9 Billion to expand I-70 from STL...

Target is actively looking at downtown. I heard about one potential location they’ve been supposedly looking at and a previously looked at location. I imagine they’ll be down there within the next few years.

City website says you can only do that up until 5pm 6 days before the hearing. This one occurs on the 6th, so that deadline has passed. Additional comments in support or against can be made in person at the meeting on the 6th.

CompassKC got a new upload that includes only letters against. Here's a summary Old Hyde Park Neighborhood Association - Wants more parking because 183 spaces for 450 bedrooms in an area with little parking will cause major congestion and parking issues. The scale is also too large for the neighborh...

How depressing is that first shot? Great pic just zero life. Beyond it just being cold, and taking these pictures just before rush hour, it feels even more dead around there than it did back when I arrived in August and through October. I guess the cold plays a role in that but still, it doesn't ma...

I revised "The Crosswalks" and since my last visit, progress has gone quick. The impact this project has on the area cannot be understated. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52534598081_857a1dd160_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52535139953_91abb3cc17_h.jpg https://live.staticf...
