Re: Sky and Cordish $253M project

I thought the 500 units are split between two parcels. Not saying this means the buildings will be short or anything, but if each side of the street gets 250 each, then you could have two, 20-story buildings. Condensing all 500 into one building would be unheard of here (at least for right now). Ye...

Re: Main & Armour - Mac Properties

Why would they not start construction this till 2024? https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2022/12/06/mac-properties-armour-main-city-plan-parking.html There are still supply chain shortages and labor might be hard to come by, complicating a construction process. Waiting another 13 months or...

^You’re speaking the truth though, not like he’ll listen. I had the chance to chat with Johnathan Duncan the other night at Justin Short’s event. A nice guy and easy to talk to. I plan to chat with him again about ideas and how shared goals can make Kansas City much better. We agree that in exchange...

Re: Sky and Cordish $253M project

The old building next to Calvert’s is being demolished today after an apparent fire last night (based on Twitter). The situation has resulted in Streetcar service being suspended since yesterday evening.

^Even when that was a real pitch several years ago, I was never for it because of the sea of parking and the demolition of the last few near north riverfront buildings that, at the time, were capable of being redeveloped.

Widening I-70

The dreaded discussion (for many) heats up again. State Senator Bill Eigel (R-Weldon Spring) has pre-filed a bill to explore using money from the State's $6 Billion surplus, and taking 2% of general revenues ($300 million this year) each year for 10 years, to yield $9 Billion to expand I-70 from STL...

Re: On-going downtown development projects

Target is actively looking at downtown. I heard about one potential location they’ve been supposedly looking at and a previously looked at location. I imagine they’ll be down there within the next few years.

City website says you can only do that up until 5pm 6 days before the hearing. This one occurs on the 6th, so that deadline has passed. Additional comments in support or against can be made in person at the meeting on the 6th.

Re: Main & Armour - Mac Properties

CompassKC got a new upload that includes only letters against. Here's a summary Old Hyde Park Neighborhood Association - Wants more parking because 183 spaces for 450 bedrooms in an area with little parking will cause major congestion and parking issues. The scale is also too large for the neighborh...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

How depressing is that first shot? Great pic just zero life. Beyond it just being cold, and taking these pictures just before rush hour, it feels even more dead around there than it did back when I arrived in August and through October. I guess the cold plays a role in that but still, it doesn't ma...

Re: 10th and Main Southwest Corner (former transit center)

I have no new updates to share, but decided to see what the views would be like from the top floor of this building. I forgot about how tall the building would be and believe, after looking at the recent rendering, I just barely overshot the height by a little bit. Regardless, I'd say the views this...

I took these today. The views from the top floor of this place (if they're still doing a rooftop bar) will be nice. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52534611396_c4dd415369_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52534600101_694d42edea_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52535141738_f30446...

Re: 1822 Main Redevlopment

I may be a bit off with these photos, but this is roughly the view top floor units in this building will have. I'm not 100% confident in the view for a number of reasons, mostly because I've seen this building being listed as 12-stories and others say it's 14. These are the views from a 14th floor. ...

Re: KC in TV and Movies

They did a good job with that short movie. Really captured the grittiness of the West Bottoms and fused it with a decent story line. I think it could’ve been a little bit longer, but it was good.
