Re: Big New STL Apartment Building

Building has a new owner and developer. It was sold to Bamboo Equity Group, they intend on saving the building.

Based on what I know, it will be apartments and retail. Renderings will be released soon. So it's good to see that they figured out how to repurpose this building

An Amtrak Engineer told me UP requires a minimum number of axles per train. Assuming that hasn’t changed, they will still have to carry those random old baggage and passenger cars along.
That'll look trashy. You have all the new and shiny stuff and then the ugly.

Re: Missouri Amtrak Service

New trains are arriving and should be in service soon! I believe these are semi-fixed trainsets, so you won't have one crappy coach and a brand new one in the same consist. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EempZvkWkAA3IZ4?format=jpg&name=medium https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EempXAMX0AYWiGd?format=jpg&name...

Re: Troost developments

The rezoning and blight designation for the Oglesby Hotel (3930 Troost) for conversion to 25-unit affordable apartments is on the Neighborhood Planning and Development Committee agenda this week. Good to see a redevelopment is coming. Here's some related information from the MHDC FY2018 4% Tax Exem...

Business Insider ranked KC as the #1 city for Work From Home. https://www.businessinsider.com/best-cities-to-work-from-home-remote-be-your-own-boss Another list ranks KC Number 1 for the same thing in addition to affordability among other things. This defines specific things to make the list clear ...

^ Hopefully a homeless person can’t crawl under that wooden thing. That would be a scare for anyone who decides to sit there.

And only one tree. Oof. The ground level of this looks very sterile.

It’s not announced but they’re moving into Spark and will also have a visitors and sales center on Main in the old Two Light leasing office. With the convention business taking a dive and not looking to make a strong comeback until 2022, revenue is down sharply. This move will prevent them from fac...

July 2020 Update: 104 of 361 units open. 71% occupied. Pretty good progress in the 5th month since opening. Pretty strong to me. Add a few more of these in that part of the City and you'll have a health population. Edit: That parking lot in front of the project in the view from Liberty Memorial is ...

Re: Freight House Podium Project - 20th and Walnut

I remember always dreaming many years ago what it would be like if the area between downtown and the crossroads were to fill in and create more of a single cohesive downtown. Maybe that's finally starting to happen. This looks like a great project. Have the same Dreams, GRID. That dream includes an...

I don’t think it’s any renderings I can almost guarantee it was, on the 'first round'. But the images were shortly replaced on the cityscene site once the nicer renderings were made available It’s not on any of the conceptual drawings sent to the city in May/June and not in anything published by CC...

I think this was normalthing’s idea, but I’d love if PVP and Liberty Memorial and its grounds were consolidated into a unified, National Parks Service-run grand park. Interesting idea. Does anyone have any idea how much the IRS facility is utilized? It’d imagine the volume of paper filings they rec...

I don't know if I'm the only one or what, but I've gotten two ads on Facebook for this in the past few days when I haven't before. Maybe they're starting to advertise on social media to try and get more people interested.

16% is low but I guess it's ok for now.

Soccer is the only sport that I think would be wildly successful downtown. Smaller site allows for more location options and the urban core crowd is their prime demographic. Do you think Sporting KC would consider moving Downtown is given the option at some point? I know their current home is prett...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

You don't have to have Riverboat Casinos in Missouri anymore. You can, but it's not required. Hotels can be built on top of a casino hall or connected to the same complex similar to Hollywood Casino in Maryland Heights, Ameristar in St. Charles, Lumiere Place in Downtown STL, River City in Southside...

Apologies if this has been posted previously. The tiniest bit of credit is due in that they did make some token improvements AFTER the plan was approved, adding some tiny cut-outs for gallery spaces to the otherwise blank wall. It was safe to assume that their promises to continue to work with plan...

Re: Rankings, lists, and such

I’m confused. Our metro is well over 1 million but we are classified as mid-sized (under 1million) in this report? Happy to be mentioned but gives the wrong info demographically. Im unsure what's going on with that. I think that the 1 Million in an urban area metric is for actual urban parts of a c...
