Re: If someone wants to live in a vibrant big city, should he/she move to KC?
If you want a vibrant big city, then no, don't move to KC. If you want a big city with flashes of vibrancy that's aesthetically beautiful, where the people are friendly, where you can live in authentic urban neighborhoods for what you'd pay to live in suburban sprawl elsewhere, where the music is go...

Re: Downtown Tanners closing?
The Thursday night $10.95 16oz strip was the best deal in KC. I've gotten decent/good service everything I went to Tanner's (which was often living in Quality Hill). Outside of the steaks, the food was so/so, but for a local joint, a little bar food and a $2.50 Coors Light=not a horrible deal. The b...

Re: Indy gets Superbowl 2012
Is the Vogue still in BR? Vogue is still in BR. It's probably Indy's best hookup spot (if that's your thing). KC's equivalent would probably be any dance club with overpriced, bad drinks. Surprising, most non-P&L bars I've been to in KC however, pour a nice, stiff drink for a solid price.

Re: Indy gets Superbowl 2012
Cool...totally jives with what I felt.... Immortal, are there many downtown residential units? When I was downtown, it felt like all the offices were pretty new and all full of office workers...but not much as far as residential population. There are ok amounts of residential units, mainly apartme...

Re: Indy gets Superbowl 2012
But they have a nice downtown, although I have been down around monument circle after dark and it gets a very "westport after midnight" feel to it. Am I wrong about that immortal3? Nah, you're right on that one, you used to get a lot of motorcycles goons and other bottom feeders around t...

Re: Indy gets Superbowl 2012
OK...I just don't see the need to poke at things like KC's riverfront...and what "Indy would do with it"....if you are just trying to provide information. Actually most things there is to see in KC can be seen in the urban core.....only thing that's not is the 2 stadiums. "Poke at t...

Re: Indy gets Superbowl 2012
immortal...it's just Grid's opinion, not sure how it can be wrong. Those are some nice events Indy has. Just enjoy where you are, don't come on here trying to "prove" anything, it never works. Personally, I liked downtown Indy but the city has a whole felt smaller to me...I might just n...

Re: Indy gets Superbowl 2012
Indy has a great downtown. It’s definitely ahead of downtown KC. But Indy’s problem is once you leave the downtown area, the city is crap. Sorry, but it is. If you look at the RCP of KCMO, it blows away Indy. If you look at the entire metro area, it’s not even in the same tier. KC is simply a...

Re: Indy gets Superbowl 2012
Broad Ripple is way better than Westport IMO, and w/o the "thug factor". We hit it on Sat nite each year and it's such a total blast. I can't wait for this year - great talent BTW. The times I've been DT, a bit disappointing in the women category. Plaza by a mile. Nobody goes to 18th &...

Re: Indy gets Superbowl 2012
Metros. "City" sizes are gae. Ok then, still not much of a difference: Indy MSA-1,640,591 KC MSA- 1,985,429 KC about 345k+ more, and that's including the Kansas side, which many I've learned since living on the MO side, like to include when it comes to numbers, but treat like a leeching r...

Re: Indy gets Superbowl 2012
Well, I'll be making my annual trek there this weekend - I've been going for 20+ years and have been back for many many other events such as NeckCar, the PGA Tournament, Colts games, and the Final Four. I've probably been there 40x. I think KC certainly has more "character" as a city a...

Re: KC Star Downtown Progress Report
Indy and Columbus and Louisville? Again, I think KC is pretty even with those towns, probably a bit ahead. KC’s urban core definitely offers more than those towns and is much larger. Respectfully disagree; KC is behind Indy and Columbus, and probably closer to Louisville. Louisville and Columbus ...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
What are you Yogi Berra? "Nobody goes there anymore, it's too busy." Do you have any affiliation with any bar type business outside of the PnL? Not trying to be rude but with a post count of two, and a post that, frankly, defies logic, one has to ask if you might not be a troll. If it's a...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
I went to P & L for the 2nd time last night, after a drive through Martini Corner to see what the action looked like. People are talking about how P & L might affect those two spots, but I'll tell you what, they might get back their crowds if P & L continues to be like what I've seen the...

I just watched the Council business session......councilman Skaggs looked like a complete idiot, and Sharp was no better....it's SUPPLY AND DEMAND and a FREE MARKET ECONOMY. POINT BLANK. Skaggs LITERALLY said that they need to get a handle on people buying THEIR TICKETS and they reselling THEIR TICK...
