Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Jumping in here only to say that the "tiny cheese place" is Kansas City gem Green Dirt Farm, famous for their chef's table dinners, delicious sheep's milk cheeses, and awesome little cafe up in Weston - great spot for lunch and a glass of wine as it also serves as the tasting room for Terr...

Re: NFL Draft

Confirmed the draft will still take place at Union Station. There have always been concerns with the weight restrictions in front, but those are being addressed. Awesome! I've been a little surprised how quiet things have been until very recently about the 2023 Draft - these events are a huge deal ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Yeah that was a tip of the hand to me too. What big block of land does KCATA own? ooorrrr Would a combo deal allow for a "future" east/west line that they could promote as part of this stadium in like a phase 2? Also could be possible reference to EV transit/bus center, which would be bas...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Happy DM is finally gone, but keeping/promoting Picollo is lame. Was hoping they would completely clean house this off season.

Cheers and thanks for 2014-15 Dayton, but it was well past time to part ways.

Dispatches from the Northland

Decided to start a new Northland thread rather than post this in the "Northland vs JOCO" thread: This talk of the Northland pulling folks from other parts of the metro has me feeling the need to chime in as my wife and I bought our first home in the Briarcliff area in 2019. I grew up in th...

Re: One North Development

This development is turning out to be sort of a suburban dud IMO. It's nice infill I guess, but I was hoping for something a bit more urban for a location like that. Agree. Huge missed opportunity, IMO. Decent mix of uses but the overall generic suburban plan is awful. Even the proposed Top Golf-al...

Re: Capping the Loop

I'd prefer a new history museum in the Star press building. We need a history museum badly and kids need it even more so they will not grow up ignorant of what the narrative of this place is. Currently there is no major museum in the loop area. It would bring people in all around the year not just ...

Re: 10th and Main Southwest Corner (former transit center)

Highly doubt we get the "taller" version if this is going feature such a large affordable/LIHTC component. 20% of the units below 70% median family income? With possible parking constructed as well? Not seeing a 30-story designer tower coming out of this...

Re: Condos near Federal Reserve

I am also pretty underwhelmed with the Northpoint plan for this site. Between the size, the views, and the location on/near a new streetcar stop while also being essentially inside a large urban park, would have hoped for something larger and more ambitious. Maybe not a 700-unit, Whole Foods-hosting...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Have to think the Plaza Starbucks closure is more due to their preference for drive-thrus than the unionization efforts, as I believe the (still open) location at 41st and Main unionized earlier. Agree that it's another blow to the Plaza and a great location for a flagship coffeeshop (albeit somewha...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

Yeah, you're wrong here. A roof doesn't need to be sealed to assist in climate control. A marginal rise in temperature with infrared stadium style heaters would be a big improvement, especially for the upper bowl which needs it the most. It's possible and being considered. SoFi's roof is expensive ...

This is the correct answer. I'm sure this will be OK once complete, with separation/demarcation fully in place.

Agreed on DeFeo/Ascend - I'd be surprised to see it completed as previously shown. Or at least any time in the near future.

Re: Americo Plaza Tower (Former Holiday Inn)

Yes agreed with GRID, this is really "the" prime site in the city right now IMO - anything less than a signature project (ideally tower) of some sort is a fail. This is highly visible, highly accessible, amazing views and nestled among KC's cultural treasures. Really hoping these features ...

Briarcliff Barrio (i.e. Brookside Barrio) is now open in Briarcliff Village. Did a nice job renovating the old Jose Peppers space with the expected large patio and indoor/outdoor bar. Headrush Coffee claims to be reopening soon after sudden personal issues closed both locations temporarily. There is...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

Hosting a party at P&L is the biggest sign to me we are in. I imagine there will be a live cut-in shot to the party once we are announced. Let's not get ahead of ourselves 8) I wouldn't be at all surprised if they put together an event to announce KC as a training/team host site vs. game site -...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

SIX retail financial institutions have opened branches in the Crossroads without drive-throughs. It’s ridiculous to assert that because the existing branch on SW Boulevard that has a drive-through is the reason to build a new one. How many of those visits would walk in the lobby if that was the onl...
