Re: OFFICIAL - Waddell & Reed - 14th & Baltimore

Looking at the site yesterday, I really really wish this could just become a small park, bluff and all. The Power and Light building is just so cool and powerful looking. You can appreciate the building even more now that the South face is exposed. A really interactive park with some great landscapi...

Good thing it didn't happen during the parade! Also, looks like a flat panel section. that will be easier to replace at least

Scrap it all and start over. This entire design in unsightly. Man they are really giving the Power and Light Building the middle finger.

Re: Brookside

SE corner of 63rd and Brookside needs a tiny Tudor building to create an anchored corner. I see that small 'plaza' they are planning, but will probably just look like a sidewalk in front of a sea of parking. Right now it's green space with big trees which is nice.

No more tennis courts?

North is up in that plan, so the curved facade would be facing the cemetary
Oh i see. Was confused. Well the cemetery isn't a bad view either...

Could be cool if they were reused on the new townhouses they were/are planning.

A second floor or (maybe higher) patio across the whole curved facade would be great. Think of the views!

Re: Poll: Does the Plaza need a drastic change, some change or on the right path?

Keep the plaza's core preserved. Make sure new storefronts complement the style of the existing buildings. Really capitalize on what the Plaza already has going for it. It really is very beautiful and unique. Why destroy that for a few more residents!? The small scale is part of what makes it great....

this is such a modern looking building for 1984!

It's nice enough looking but really out of fashion.

Nothing impressive, could be worse.
This reflects my expectations for most new projects in KC. It's like our city's mantra for new development. Sad.

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza

I'm tired of the garage base - tenants above model. We need to be wrapping garages in usable building space so you don't see them and life is at street level. (Fang that may have been what you meant as Power & Light apartments are like this?) How do you propose this is accomplished? Buildings like ...

"As we've worked on the design for Three Light, you want to differentiate them so they're not repetitive or boring, but you want to do it in a way where the quality is the same across the buildings," he said. With the recent revelation that work is expected to begin on Three Light sometime in early...

Re: Companies moving downtown

I hope they are covering the face with anything besides glass that matches the Light buildings...and no fake limestone panels either. Make it stand out a bit please!! Also, I really hope this garage podium is not exposed to the sidewalk. I would have to see a dead zone all around the block, especial...

Side note, 303 is the classiest gay bar/restaurant I've ever been to. (and I've traveled extensively.) Gourmet food. Fresh-cut flowers on every table. Huge paintings in both rooms. Copper bar. It's beautiful! I hope they do expand into the old Ragazza spot!

The brick restoration and cleaning of those facades is really impressive.
