Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?
That’s outright insane. Prior evictions, criminal history, and credit score are absolutely fair considerations when leasing to somebody.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
There’s still issues but it’s much more hit or miss, not a constant backup. At the arrivals curb last week there was no officer to be found. Middle of the afternoon with only a few curb spots available and lots of people just sitting in their cars. After ~15 minutes an officer pulled up in an SUV &a...

On a passing glance, it looks like someone’s unfurled a protest banner. Strange design choice.

Re: 1822 Main Redevlopment
I'm usually a HUGE fan of planning staff, but if this is the case, that needs to change. Modern urban areas have color. Historic areas are not all brick. And maintenance really doesn't make sense in the 1914 Main example because that aluminum siding looked terrible from the get, all dented and seam...

Re: 1822 Main Redevlopment
We need some better coloring for some of these buildings. I remember when they were doing the 1914 Main building and they put the insulation board up that was purple, I believe. Then, they covered it with aluminum siding and the life sank out of the building. I wish they would have just left it off...

Re: NE Corner of 14th & Wyandotte (300 unit apartment)
Without a letter expressing interest from the brand for a corporate-owned location, Lux could be fudging what's going on. That would explain the 200 room count. All of the brands mentioned allow for franchised use. If Lux is pursuing the operation, instead of the corporate hotelier, then it would fo...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
While I understand your point, a town of 10,000 isn’t quite the best example in failures for this context of the Plaza. It's not just Atchison. The pedestrian mall movement was popular in a lot of spots in the 60s/70s. A comparable example to the plaza could be K Street in Sacramento, which ended u...

The departure board legibility seems like it’d be an easy fix. Just switch the UI colors to a higher contrast. I’m not sure who thought dark grey on grey was a good idea.

Re: Is Midtown Marketplace one of the city's greatest blunders?
5. People defending a multinational corporation like it's your neighborhood mom and pop hardware store are laughable. You'd rather have a business that knocked tons of local shops out of business in favor of a large parking lot because of "convenience" when an idea like UrbanLab is presen...

Re: Is Midtown Marketplace one of the city's greatest blunders?
A store like HD is still a huge benefit to homeowners, independent contractors, and those who wish to improve smaller-scale structures throughout midtown. An urban-style HD with parking above the store could easily be built in the existing HD parking lot.

Re: OFFICIAL - Main Street Streetcar Extension
Appreciate the brainstorming, but cobblestones doesn’t seem beneficial for a transit lane. With buses being used for streetcar interruptions or service supplements, you’d need something that is considerate of bus rider comfort as well.

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project
Building heights in that area don't really matter much tbh This forum, rightly or wrongly, has complained for years about suburban-esque density down there. These numbers do not indicate a substantial increase to downtown-level density given the amount of land included. However, if they maintain la...

Those square footages seem a little low to me for how much ground is still available. Not like terribly low…just makes me think either you’re going to have some monster parking podiums or buildings that are less tall than this forum wants.

Yep, kull is right, it sounds like a very poor install. There should have been multiple screws, not nails, going into wall stud, not just gypsum.

Re: Generic ongoing KCATA thread
That's an astronomical increase if true. We need a robust regional fund yesterday, but the KCATA should have a better strategy than increasing fees in one year by nearly 400%. The metro is currently an auto-supremacy. Even if you're a strong transit supporting politician, it's hard to stay in office...

That's fine that you don't like how people post. They're still issues people are experiencing. Also... there's no real discussion stemming from posts saying "I liked X & Y". With that said, here's what's still solid IMO after many flights: - When the concessions are open, I've found th...
