Re: Misc Crossroads News

Surface lots begone. But no details on what will be developed. https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2019/11/20/crossroads-arts-district-mixed-use-3d-development.html Looks like the two buildings to be demolished are nothing special. I don't think I've ever even noticed that the one at 2110 G...

Cityscene needs to figure out how to responsive design correctly. I practically have to sit on the opposite side of the office to read his articles on an actual computer screen.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

I can't get on board with removing the North Loop stop. It doesn't get a lot of traffic at the moment, but if and when that sea of parking gets developed it should, and having the stop there would seem to incentivize said development to some degree. So I say keep it. Ditto. I actually use this stop...

I can still get M&M Bakery though! Not a direct competitor, but great eats for the money.
It's been too long since I've been there but I absolutely love M&M.

Looks like they're doing something to the Liberty Memorial fountain/reflecting pool
It would be nice if they could actually get the water features working again next year.

Iron District's hours might be just as big a threat to its survival as opening just before winter. The hours are confusing... especially the bizarre gap on Saturdays. Then each individual vendor can set their own hours within those already limited and confusing hours. So there's really no clear way ...

Re: Pursuing FREE City-Wide Bus

^Given the number of out-of-towners I've talked to who decided NOT to go to Westport or the Plaza after learning the streetcar didn't go that far, I think this would be hugely successful as an interim solution. As you described, the key would be to make it as easy and clear as possible and you naile...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

"...Ebenezer's Brewery & Wine Bar will be opening late 2019..." Given the bureaucratic and other delays that pretty much every other brewery has faced trying to open, "late 2019" translates to "sometime between April 2020 and never". That said, if all goes well they should make a killing being the o...

Has anyone else found themselves needing to log back in every visit since the move? I click "Remember me" each time and it never does.

Clustertruck is a chain (albeit in only a few cities) and no one complained when it moved into the RM. I don't see Domino's as all that much different. The locals who love all the other great local pizza choices in the neighborhood aren't going to suddenly stop patronizing the local places just beca...

Feed Supply Market moving to city market? http://www.feedsupplymarket.com/ https://compasskc.kcmo.org/EnerGov_Prod/SelfService/#/plan/5ddf7742-5ce3-43fd-a841-87618d4e7eb8 Is this the place that was up in Gladstone? I heard it was pretty great but they closed before I got a chance to check them out.

Re: OFFICIAL - Wallstreet Tower (formerly US Bank Tower)

I stopped in this weekend just for a quick drink to check the place out. It's a nice space so I hope it works out. One thing that's kind of cool is that the courtyard (which is covered by the liquor license) is smoke-free too. If you want to smoke, you have to go up the stairs to the sidewalk.

The garage retail spot finally has a tenant, six years after the Orion was demolished: https://www.kansascity.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/cityscape/article235399357.html I stopped in a couple of nights ago. The owners seem nice (one of whom I'd met before). Good beer and whisky selection, I...

Downtown hotels are now getting away w/out much parking if any. Many who visit don't rent a car. Not sure if a 'luxury' hotel can pull it off but will be interesting to see how they play this. From my experience, higher end customers are more likely to fly into a city and more likely to Uber around...

[The state applications were due around August 17th. The applicants won't know if they have a license until the end of December. It's a pretty risky gamble.
