Re: POLL: Best Downtown Stadium Location

Thanks for calling people ignorant for expressing their opinion. I think this is a pretty relevant discussion, actually. These areas are adjacent to, and have started to been become real neighborhoods and its reasonable to say their character could take a dramatically different turn with the introdu...

Re: POLL: Best Downtown Stadium Location

I plan to vote NO on the tax renewal if the ballpark location is not established prior to the vote.

If the result is East Crossroads I will be a definitive no. This is not a place for cataclysmic development. We should be past this and certainly shouldn't subsidize it.

The area is seriously lacking any public or private indoor adult lap pool with decent hours.

Re: Short Term Rentals

STRs that are not owner occupied are becoming a HUGE problem in urban neighborhoods. It's not just the party houses that are to blame. It's the insidiousness of how they can take over whole neighborhoods and destabilize the social bonds over time. The goal for a lot of urban neighborhoods has always...

Re: OFFICIAL - Main Street Streetcar Extension

Question: Have they considered adding the Main Max busses eventually stopping at streetcar stops along the extension through midtown to increase service frequency? I ask because this was how I learned to ride the bus in Boston many years ago when I was a student. The green E-line near my apartment w...

Re: Broadway

I had friends who rented a first floor apartment along 39th just behind Toblers Flowers in the late 1990s. A fourplex called the "Princess" which was cute but in terrible shape; they had a bus stop basically on their front stoop. I remember when they were kicked out for "neighborhood ...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Honest traffic question: I like the new Gilham bike lanes, but do not understand why there is a dedicated right turn lane for car traffic northbound onto Linwood. The left turn lane is also a through lane; You have to wait through several lights just to continue north due to the backup of people mak...

Re: Office project at 27th & Main

Union Hill pedestrians headed for the streetcar stop on 27th out would exit to Grand at Warwick... right by garage entrance and loading deck and will need to cross the street and also walk around this massive structure somehow. Was hoping they would build a structure a little more resident friendly.

Re: Office project at 27th & Main

Yuck. Looks like Corporate Woods or something... Probably just tall enough to block the skyline views from 30th and grand area, while making people on the street near the building/streetcar stop feel like aliens who don't belong there. But ...those workers will get a nice view before they head direc...

Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham

There is an item on the upcoming CPC Docket (although it looks like it is being continued) for a new parking lot to be built for KCPT just south of the tower (where they recently demolished a decent looking brick apartment building). My only hope for this is that it would allow them to sell their l...

I believe that block of Oak has only ever had parking on one side of the street. They just switched it to the other side.

Phew, good beer advice and glad to hear I'm not crazy about prices. I do worry about overpriced blandness accompanying the "hotel market business." I don't mind a some convenient utilitarian places nearby, but not at a "tourist premium." I just wish more affordable options were g...

Re: Various restaurants coming to City

Wow, really? For me $5-7 reasonable for a full pint of decent craft beer (and I know I've had a Tank 7 for less then $9 elsewhere; you never get a full pint of course.) I guess I'm going to have to start asking for beer pricing before I order anything these days. I mean I like beer but I don't like ...
