Re: Muehlebach Hotel / KC Club Project

25 years ago today the Muehlbach tower was imploded. https://youtu.be/B9t5pzRKGp0 Thanks for sharing. This might be my earliest memory. I can still picture watching a building get demolished downtown, but I would have been about 20 months old at the time of this demolition, and I have a hard time b...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

^It could also fit in the casino spot, with casino/hotel built into the stadium. The stadium should go where a streetcar is already planned with other justifications, not drive a dedicated streetcar line. And would orient stadium view toward DT skyline. Free metro bus should also allow cutting down...

Re: Broadway

2100 license applications were submitted, only up to 348 are expected to be approved. Of those, 198 will be dispensaries and the rest will be production/processing facilities. So, as you said, the odds are very much against any particular license getting approved. And those numbers are for across t...

Re: Broadway

Well, since the state hasn't granted any licenses yet (AFAIK), it is all speculative. However, the cost of the application with the state is fairly hefty, so I don't think people would be doing that on a speculative whim. I assume the permit application with the city is much cheaper and easier. Cou...

Re: Broadway

The old Soli building at 3509 Broadway is getting a new facade and being white-boxed. It's owned by KC Life and they are actively marketing it for lease, but no tenants have been secured as of yet.

I'm a big fan of Kitty's Cafe on 31st. The pork tenderloin sandwich with hot sauce and mayonnaise is excellent with a side of fries. Though I usually feel like taking a nap afterward!

Edit to say it is cash-only

Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham

This building is under contract to be sold. It will be completely redeveloped. Upstairs will be executive offices, downstairs will be retail. I know that's vague... can't share the concepts, but it will be a great addition to this neighborhood. The inside of this building is pretty rough. Overall, I...

Something called The Combine, restaurant and bar is coming to the Wonder Shops and Flats building, according to Joyce Smith. It looks like Jason Pryor of Pizza 51 is involved. I am guessing this will go into the spot that was supposed to be EOT Brewing. Or is there any other available restaurant lo...

C'mon Starbucks, the world needs more instances of this Lewis Black bit . (Assuming Scooter's wants to try downtown again, they'd be the obvious choice to take over that space.) Word is that Scooter's no longer intends to operate any stores without drive thrus. I am also told that the Kaldi on Stat...

I drove to Lincoln Saturday morning for a wedding and back to KC Sunday afternoon. The water was up to the edge of the road for miles. Pretty sad to see all of that flooding.

Isn't that a Bible verse.
Yes, but I believe the business name is inspired by John Steinbeck's "East of Eden".

Re: wtf is happening to w. 39th?!

Hasn't been mentioned yet, but the Smalter Gallery opened up in 1802 W 39th St. They did a beautiful renovation of the space, which was previously in very rough shape. They even have before and after pictures inside. It adds an interesting mix to the street, I hope they do well. https://smalterart.c...

Re: Troost developments

There are often trans prostitutes on the NE corner of 43rd and Troost. Speaking of that intersection, it's surprising that no one has tried renovating the apartment building on the SE corner. Oh, there's a family that's been "renovating" it for the past two and a half years. Very little progress he...

Re: Real Estate Listings of Interest (Metrowide)

MAC does have the parking garage behind the International building. I believe tenants from any of their buildings can get a spot there. That is not too far from this building. Also, the 3-story brick box apartment building at 36th and Gillham was recently put up for sale. That building could use so...

I'm still holding out hope for Denver Biscuit Co. to open in Westport. Hopefully a local/regional biscuity name entering the same neighborhood doesn't spook them.
I heard Denver Biscuit Co. / Atomic Cowboy is going into the old icehouse at 4140 Pennsylvania Ave
