Re: Short Term Rentals

This is being done, but lack of enforcement is the problem. If I was mayor, I would allow citizens to report and enforce violations with stiff fines – as long as it is well documented. I would also deputize all bicycle riders and allow them to ticket people who obstruct/park in bike lanes. Bike lan...

Re: Short Term Rentals

It's a shame that city council did not see this coming. The writing was on the wall and now it may be too late. Every week, it seems, a new STR shows up in Columbus Park. I'm a fan of the owner-occupied STRs, but these other ones are neighborhood killers.

If Manica designs it, perhaps it will be chic and without pretension, and arranged so fans in left field can flirt with fans in right field, all with an international vibe.

As is. They are all in great shape and occupied. It's a very cool little neighborhood and not all of it is owned by Nutter, but most is. The ones that are not are mostly residential.

Longtime Westport company James B. Nutter & Co. is shutting down permanently and selling off assets. I wonder what will happen to all their properties in "Nutterville?" I had the same question. Clearly those homes would be valuable if returned to residential use given their proximity ...

Yes and it was kind of unprecedented to get the new cut-in windows approved.

Re: Columbus Park Redevelopment

"Eventful" is a nice way to put it. Yes, the neighborhood is fed up with these developers. As a CP resident, I've been involved with this development since 2004 and we have been fed multiple lies, most of them laughable, but my neighbors want development so badly that they ate it up. There...

Picture, if you will, yourself sitting in the street car, returning to downtown from a losing Chiefs game. It is packed and you are surrounded by drunk, angry fans. I would rather walk. Or even crawl back, naked, over broken glass.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

The demographics around the plaza are changing as the original "savers" die off or move away. I imagine by the time the streetcar is running, there will be very few of those folks left and I sense a change in attitude as the population becomes younger. I can see big improvements possible t...

I didn't join until 2007 but I am the OG luxury boho and single-handedly started the cargo pants craze. Then I brought it back again. And then again. And I am coming for you now, pockets full of downtown stadiums and medical marijuana.

I've always been fond of those relatively close northland neighborhoods, especially both old and new Briarcliffs and Parkville. After moving out of midtown (for 15 years) in 2005, I was excited to start exploring up north. Unfortunately, I thought I could do it on my bike. You are correct rxlexi abo...

FangKC wrote: Tue Aug 23, 2022 2:19 am It seems to me this site could handle a lot more apartments than 390. Why not 700?

Something like this might work on one of the parcels in Berkley Riverfront Park.

How long do you think it would take to rent out 700 apartments in KC?
If you put a Whole Foods on the ground floor, no time at all.
