Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
From Justin Meyer A few nice additions for Kansas City (MCI) in this week's airline schedule load: AUG 2024: AA - DCA -1 to 2/day, ORD +1 to 6/day, DFW +1 to 7/day, PHL +1 to 4/day SEP 2024: UA - ORD +1 to 6/day OCT 2024: AA - ORD +2 to 6/day, PHL +1 to 3/day UA - ORD +1 to 6/day I feel like MCI ne...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium
The KS proposal is for a STAR that covers the stadiums and nothing else. At least that’s my take having watched the discussions live. Not sure how the development alone would generate enough to pay for itself. If so maybe it's a possibility? Wish they would do the development at the sports complex.

Re: New Chiefs Stadium
Parson at Canadian Pacific KC today saying Missouri will compete to keep both stadiums. Said they are big economic engines My concern here is that Missouri will go all out to keep the Chiefs as it is the only professional football team in Missouri to the point that there effort to help the Royals s...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium
I don't have a problem with the Chiefs on the KS side if KCMO and MO can't build a high quality project. But the Royals have to stay in KCMO or I will throw in the towel.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Well done Jackson County, well done. You even fucked over Worlds of Fun because you showed how weak and easy you are to just pilfer from. WoF is in Clay County and the Mattel Park in KCK will be tiny compared to it. How many privately owned amusement parks are built with tax money? I can only think...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I think what people keep forgetting is that it's about the losing seasons performances. If the stadium is downtown, then even in the 100-loss seasons we'd still have a higher attendance floor downtown then we would win with a 100-loss season at TSC. Winning seasons will fill up stadium regardless i...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The Royals have almost zero season ticket base, much of which can be attributed to the stadium's location being so isolated from any of the business community or nearby affluent residential areas. That's a primary reason their attendance is so low. And their attendance is BAD and not sustainable for...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner
Downtown Nashville is more urban, more built up and larger than downtown KC now and rapidly pulling away. Not sure how you can deny that. It doesn't really have the warehouse districts that KC has, although they do have more actual neighborhoods that surround downtown. That city's downtown has built...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner
If KC builds out the riverfront, a royals move downtown and they build up the area around a stadium and housing really starts to take off along the streetcar route, I really think KC could finally have the urban core it needs to get it over the hump.

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner
Nashville is not going anywhere. That city is going to be twice the size of KC in 20-30 years. In just the 1990's, Nashville felt like a city half the city of KC. It's downtown is now already four times the size of KC's and it's not slowing down. It's not my type of city either, but it is what it is...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Royals are getting a lot of crowds of around 10k and are barley able to average 17k Fri-Sun. KC is in the same group with Tampa and Miami before you jump 3k to all the other teams that average at least 18k a game with the vast majority well over 20k. Is that even sustainable? If KC doesn't get ...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project
They say this project will have about 1000 apartments. 400 of them going up in the first phase is impressive. However these renderings look more like 2000-2500 apartments. What is the deal with the Cordish project here? Last I heard they were only going to build a parking structure or something. Is ...

Re: Cerner still committed to Bannister site
The Bannister Mall plan is coming up for review in front of the TIF Commission. I still think this plan should include dense residential housing to be successful long-term. Otherwise, we will be back at the same place in 25 years. Should we be writing the TIF Commission to voice this point-of-view?...

I guess I have never noticed, but I always thought Sixt was just in Europe, Australia etc. It's always an option when I travel international, but have never used it in America.

Any chance they actually build? Seems like Block sits on a lot of property, at least in the urban core.

Re: T-Mobile Center (formerly Sprint Center)
So just using numbers from 2024, you would add 41 (actually typically more including preseason and playoff games). I'm just not sure how you can argue that downtown is better off without a pro tenant from a "keep downtown busy" perspective. 90% of the concerts and other events will find th...

Re: T-Mobile Center (formerly Sprint Center)
If it were only that easy. Kansas City isn’t an anchor market when it comes to touring acts. They route through and if a date they want isn’t available they’ve got other choices and will simply skip the market. Toss in needing to work around a pro team schedule and you’d 100% lose several concert d...

Re: T-Mobile Center (formerly Sprint Center)
Why would the arena not still get all the same concerts it does? The arena sits empty way too many nights a year. A pro team with 40-50 additional nights of 15,000 people downtown would absolutely help the city, at least downtown. Now is it worth the public money it would take to attract a team? Tha...
