Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Well, I guess I don't have to keep asking if all the surrounding development will open with the stadium anymore.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
In the Crossroads just now and it's pretty quiet with the only real foot traffic really being people in town for the Big 12 wrestling tournament. You can't tell me that the city is in a position to refuse this, it's madness bordering on selfishness. I wish more people would notice this. Anyway, tha...

So it looks like KCMO just needs to add 2.9 million people to its city limits. Sounds easy enough.

Have the Royals said anything about the development along Oak going up at the same time as the stadium?

Re: Bonner Springs
Good god. Another STAR bonded project in KS. Where are all the people against corporate handouts to millionaire developers for KS side development? Never anywhere to be found. Just like Schlitterbahn, they won't last five years (unless KS subsidizes them even more down the road). There is no way in ...

Re: Sad...
Austin has hit a major snag and have actually started to see home values decline and rent deals are abundant as they struggle to fill up apartments they built at a frantic pace. You say this like it is a bad thing…we should be shooting for this I don’t really have an opinion on good or bad. I can s...

Re: KC metro growth and migration stats
Good news is that despite JoCo adding the most, the MO sided continues to add over twice as many people. 8,552 MO side vs 4,009 KS side.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I'm sure they will super tif the stadium development. Basically Missouri's version of STAR bonds. It's how the P&L District was funded.
Redirects EVERY bit of revenue collected from the area back to the development, that includes state taxes and KCMO's etax.

Who is Bunch? Anti development? I don't follow KC politics anymore. Although it seems like the mayor is trying?

Re: Sad...
My point is to those that don't want a downtown stadium which will help get construction going in downtown KC again. Many of these places already have transit, downtown stadiums, etc.TheUrbanRoo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 1:55 pm Yeah I'll take the new MLB stadium, south loop cap, streetcar plus all the adjacent development to these.

Re: Sad...
And by KC people, I don't mean people on this forum. Everybody there thinks KC has a fast growing crowded downtown that doesn't need more construction. The mentality there drives me nuts. KC needs that downtown stadium more than most know. Just imagine downtown KC today had the P&L district not ...

Yeah, I get that. The studies don't take into account the intangible and quality of life effects though.
Honestly don't get why team owners can't just take out loans to pay for stadiums, but that's just how it is and KC alone can't change it.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
^ especially in such a regional and isolated metro like KC. Even as bad as the Royals are, every time they play the Twins, several thousand people drive in for games. And lots of people travel to KC for Royals games from across the country. If KC didn't have the stadiums, it wouldn't have other majo...

Re: New Riverfront Women's Soccer Stadium
^ cool shot I think it's looking at the structure from the street. It looks like there is nothing to it. Just beams and grand stands. But that stadium doesn't have much going on in the end zones, so that's probably why. It's not big enough for the ends of the stadium to be built out. Your pic shows ...

Re: Capping the Loop
Said all along this has no chance of opening prior to the world cup. They might start construction before the WC if they are lucky. How does MO have the money to widen I-70 across the entire state when most of it doesn't need it? I-70 only needs to be six lanes to Odessa for example. Widening it fr...

Debbie Downers over here jeez. First women's soccer stadium ever! "Doesn't look good enough!" - KCRag I haven't heard any reviews from those who went but everybody downtown seemed really excited pregame. Can't wait to go check it out. It's just how it looked, I saw a video of it on youtub...
