Re: Trees in KC (ongoing)

Speaking of the politics of trees... We used to live south of the Plaza years ago in the Wornall Homestead area. When I was growing up years ago, my parents made the mistake of planting a maple tree in the outer lawn (the area between the sidewalk and the street where property rights are iffy). The...

No need to worry. This species is well tested. Sure, you might see a couple seedlings pop up, but they will be rare. The similar Amur Maple is far worse at re-seeding itself.

It is a reasonably good tree. Durable, though not native. A small tree to about 25' height. The samaras (seeds) turn a pretty red in the summer.

Ten white oak trees planted recently on Paseo between 28th and 30th. Another 143 scheduled to be planted in major effort to reforest Paseo. Good effort. Ward Parkway got trees like this a decade ago. Watch the trees disappear, though. A majority of new tree or shrub plantings I have witnessed on th...

I was in town over Christmas. I see this multi billion dollar development has spurred the development of a Quik Trip... Maybe after the another four buildings are built, a Wendys will go in. Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

Naming a street after this civil rights hero was a pathetic move anyway. He deserves a great park or monument (the current park is very weak). If the on again, off again Washington Square Park ever happens, I propose naming it after MLK. That would cause more city leaders to push it forward and wou...

Here is a new study of three sets of three adjacent neighborhoods in OP. The study looked at '50s-'60s era SF residential neighborhoods that had at least 15 home sales in the past 2 years. Each compared neighborhood was in the same location, with similar house sizes and styles. The goal was to compa...
