please allow me to blatantly ignore the spirit of the question and name a bunch of answers that no one is satisfied with:
  • westport ale house
  • drunken fish

Re: What Makes a Good Rooftop Sign?

the audience observation is a good one. maybe a bit off topic otherwise, but relevant to that observation, is logo creep in the loop generally post-streetcar. for example, PWC put its logo on the skywalk over main and petticoat facing both north and southbound, and andrews mcmeel put its logo above ...

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

because i walk past underutilized space 25x a day every day and this is the rare occasion i can place blame on a current retail tenant for several years of it instead of some shadowy, abstract kemper or copaken enterprise.

don't know, but believe it was recently re-listed for sale at a lower price than i've seen previously (i think $925k). also an HOA fee in the $700/month neighborhood.

A great biography of Jane Jacobs came out in 2016, called Eyes On The Street, written by Robert Kanigel. My favorite part was how she almost single-handedly kept Robert Moses from building a freeway through SoHo.

Can you even have density without walkability naturally increasing though? I don't think I could name a place that's dense yet unwalkable. Even if the streetscape is total trash, you'll still have everything a shorter walking distance away. you're right imo but i think this thread is using 3-5 diff...

i thought the brunch sucked summer 2018 and was supremely disappointed in my order and in what i sampled from others. others were happy with their food fwiw. also fwiw i was hungover. i don't have any real interest in going back. this was at plaza location, i've never been to the other.

LET'S GOOOO!! sign me up for the red corrugated shoebox. this is, conservatively, eight billion times better than more parking. someone let the developer know they don't need multiple parking spots for my unit.
