Taking dozens of gates at surrounding airports is a long term infrastructure commitment. I believe SWA will add some in KC but nothing like they are at the airports surrounding us.

Massive expansions by SWA at Denver and BNA. More moderate growth at STL that seems to have slowed.

KC moved too slowly and Southwest moved on

Re: Sporting Kansas City

STL City’s stadium is just about complete. For the most part, does not look as nice as CMH but will need to go to games. Their location is downtown though so there is a lot more to do around the stadium and you can take the light rail.

To be fair: A lot of people want to build around the PAC but Kauffman and related parties have always refused to sell their land or they block the construction of things to the south. EPC and Hotel Bravo are the first time these groups have ok’d something and even then it’s for projects at the far ...

Found these quotes interesting After billions of dollars in investment, downtown KC now welcomes over 10 million visitors a year. Twenty years ago, that number was just 225,000. “We have 60 percent of the people — six, zero — that are moving into our buildings are actually coming from out of the ma...

NWS has a higher average attendance than WNBA in 2019. NWS trending up and WNBA trending down.

KC Current have more turnout than almost all WNBA teams

Re: OFFICIAL - Waddell & Reed - 14th & Baltimore

The problem is we need incentives to make it happen and some people lose their minds over that. I know alot of people don’t like Hotel Bravo but I wish we had it. Iirc, it would be opening in a few months if it had gone as planned. Four Seasons STL is only 200 rooms. Their Ritz is 300+ iirc but far...

Stl had a four seasons and ritz, and then a curio by Hilton and a live by Loews. The first two considered high premium, the next consider premium. Kc had zero Like your rewards points list? Loews KC is by all accounts nicer than Live by Loews STL. Curio I assume is the Union Station location which ...

City Manager incentive program discussion at City Council pushed into October it appears. I worry it either won’t happen or the qualified incentives will be too little to make it worth it

Grid, how do you view Paseo East then? It’s just as big as Paseo west but with all institutional uses and few e/w connections. It’s an even bigger barrier than a stadium would be. There is nothing to connect to past Paseo directly unless you go “up and over” via Independence Blvd. Again, the benefit...

Crossroads benefits from sitting between 2 centers of business and tourism and on the main N/W arterial of the city. Paseo West has nothing to draw people in or through it. Paseo East is all institutional uses providing a fire wall to any movement or development deeper into the east side. Grid, try ...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

I’m on a Delta flight from Portland to Seattle this afternoon. As it’s a regional jet, I gate-checked my bag and noticed that both of the people in front of me had KC as their final destination. I commented on that to the gate agent, so she checked - *40* people on this flight are going to KC. That...

How does IND make it work with no rail and minimal surface lots? Have you spent much time in that part of downtown Indy? I have. It works for Indy because that city has less urban fabric right outside of the very core of downtown than KCMO does. There is not really any place to duplicate what Indy ...

Re: KU/KCK <-----> TSC East/West Transit

For the hundredth time... there's plenty of population on the way to the stadiums . If the proposal stopped at the Blue River (where density drops off a cliff) you'd all be complaining that it doesn't go far enough. I just hope this isn't bus only That all depends on the funding situation. You can'...
