Just caught a promo here in Tucson that they are in the semi finals. No excitement in KC?
Building lights changed for Sporting. Can’t really do anything for the games so it’s hard to get excited.

Re: OFFICIAL - Waddell & Reed - 14th & Baltimore

Jesus. KC just can't catch a break. This could easily end up getting stalled mid construction and sitting for years. Very very unlikely. The city was looking at this site to place a garage at the same time WR was evaluating it. So it will sit delayed for a couple of years and then just used for a g...

Re: OFFICIAL - Waddell & Reed - 14th & Baltimore

I’m curious what the plans are for this building now that Waddell is being acquired. JP Morgan served as the advisor for WR. So that is where the JPM rumor came from. If Waddell breaks their lease within the next month or 2, I would think that this could be converted into a residential project. Ame...

Re: The KCMO School District

I think some would take this information as proof that money spent per student doesn’t produce outcomes directly. That is my thought. Money alone can not buy better outcomes. A more holistic approach may be needed. The spreadsheet only breaks the cost down by district and building and by source. AC...

Re: Golden Plains Technology Park

Not surprising KC got one but curious STL didn't. Wonder where located in KC. If the mega data center campus project happens, wouldn't be surprising to see a full blown new AWS region setup in KC, which also acts as failover backup for other regions. There were a few tech cities that didn’t get one...

Re: The KCMO School District

Let's take a look at school spending vs results in 2019. Costs per student from MO Dept of Education. Elementary: It is a bit harder to compare the cost per student of elementary vs outcomes. KCPS's Holiday Elementary School spends a mind-blowing $30,000 per student per year. Compare that to the $1...

Re: The KCMO School District

That data set is interesting. Look at the extremes and this clearly isn't comparing apples to apples in a way that you can blindly assume you can use it as a proxy to show how money spent determines school outcome. Truman High School reports $5600 per student in spending. On the other end Breckenri...

AWS Local Zones are a type of AWS infrastructure deployment that places AWS compute, storage, database, and other select services close to large population, industry, and IT centers. Prior to today, customers could use AWS Local Zones in Lo...

Re: Old KCPS HQ - 12th & McGee

I hate that this building came down with little to no fight at all and even passive approval from many on this board. I’m disappointed in all of you. The building wasn't in good shape, imho ugly, and didn't have a great ground floor. Not much worth fighting for. Big fight was on making sure it did ...

The city has LCRA, PIEA, TIF, Chapter 353 for the purposes of transforming blighted parcels (parking lots) back into productive uses. The city shrunk EDC over the years (Lucas made big cuts this year pre-corona). EDC has just 2 development liaisons left with a single development officer covering KCM...

Read today that Nordstrom's is pushing back their opening on the Plaza to 2023. Have they even started the building?
Was supposed to start in summer 2021. I guess around 2090 now.
