Pay is NOT rising quickly

Adjusting for inflation every year someone would be paid ~$67873 in 2019.

So the median income will buy just slightly less than in 2000.
Projected growth from 2019 to 2023 looks like it will out pace inflation by quite a bit.

Re: Are downtown apartment occupancy rapidly trending down?

KC rental demand continues to significantly outpace construction. https://www.berkadia.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Berkadia-Multifamily-Report-Kansas-City-3Q19.pdf https://i.imgur.com/CYd6qmf.png Downtown occupancy rates continue to increase (wonderful news!). Re: Crown Center: urban disaster, shining star, or in-between

All the Crown Center restaurants that were managed by the Hyatt (and, presumably after the change, the Sheraton) were pretty bad. Milano, Crayola, etc. I'd be curious if all of them closing is part of the hotel divesting itself of managing all those external businesses. Yes, they were moved to Sher...

Re: KC's Big 5 needs for 2020s

Fare Free Transit: I'm curious why folks think this is a good thing. First issue is that it is NOT system wide - only KCMO. So any bus that crosses to the other state, suddenly need a fare. I'm sure that will lead to a good bit of confusion when some buses picking up in downtown KCMO will require a...

Re: What Makes a Good Rooftop Sign?

That Salesforce sign breaks all of my rules. Impressive. In fact, it makes me want to make a new rule: Text must be large Text isn’t large enough to read and logo isn’t big enough to recognize. Truly a pointless sign. One of the lower buildings to the right had a smaller version of the sign that lo...

Re: What Makes a Good Rooftop Sign?

I’m generally supportive of signage. It makes a place feel more life full. I also am often impressed/interested in the corporate signs I see in other cities. For example, I would never have known that DuPont, Microsoft, and Peadbody Coal have offices in downtown STL except for seeing their signs. I ...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

The new terminal entryway will be 40' but slopes down towards the back. The current KCI terminals are probably somewhere around 30-35 feet. The 35 gate new terminal that just opened in NOLA has ceilings up to 70 to 80 feet for comparison... ...even their hold rooms have much taller ceilings N’orlea...

Trashy? It is a convenience store, what do you expect? Not everything has to be artisinal, local goods. These are the kind of stores we need to increase walkability/car free livability. Looks like they have more groceries than a QT or CVS. Looks more like a large bodega. I'll be giving this place a...

Don't be so quick to jump on the bandwagon. Dollar General stores are often terrible for neighborhoods. Revised plans are now available via CompassKC. It has a couple of enhanced elevations, but is otherwise nothing much new to this board. On the 14th street side the first two 'blocks' have a metal screen on them. 14th street is still a blank black wall. I think the graphics in this document were wha...

Is it just me or is this project moving extremely fast?
I think it’s a combination of moving fast and just having a solid tenant. Most of our projects take so long because they spend years figuring out the financing.

AA/Spirit/Delta/United all adding extra flights to Miami/Fort Lauderdale for the super bowl. UA/AA is going to have a 757 of them.

AA adding 4
United 2
Delta 2
Spirit 1

Under normal circumstance Southwest would add but with their fleet issues they might not.

Re: Four Light

I wonder how much of the possibility that Cordish is shifting away from apartments is due to difficulty in securing the incentives necessary to build the garages that come with apartments. As we've seen, hotels need much less parking. For those reasons, I wouldn't be surprised if 4-light was a upsc...

Here are some interesting things showing some measurements for the drop-off/pick up area. these are public just hard to find. These areas are going to be very open with their higher ceilings and wide widths. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49396627187_a74c2e4b2e_o.jpg https://live.staticflickr....
