Re: KCMO 18th "most dangerous", KCK 25th "most dangerous"

Is anyone else annoyed by the 'Crime Scene' section in the Star?  Seems to sensationalize or even glorify crime, if not sort of promoting it by giving criminals attention. Crime info should be available for those who want to seek it out.  It's unfortunate that it's used as a way to sell papers.  Wo...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

I have seen it in person and it looks awesome. I do not know what you mean by looking like ****, but it does have an industrial feal where the buildings are not finished and the businesses that are finished look great. Give it time you will see it in a whole new light when everything is in place. F...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

Am I the only one, or does the architecture of the P&L look like shit?  Correct me if I'm mistaken because I haven't seen any of it in person.  From the photos I've seen, it looks completely out of scale and character.  The quality of the construction appears to be lacking as well.  Am I alone o...

Re: thinking about moving close to Westport

Fang,

Yeah still check in once in a while, but living in Korea now so I don't have as much time now days.  Looks like things are going well at home though.  I will be home for a visit in January and February and I'm looking forward to checking out all the development since I've been gone.

Re: thinking about moving close to Westport

I lived in the area at two different times.  Once on Holly, just south of 41st and the second time just around the corner on 41st.  I love the area and I agree that this is what I think of when I think of KC.  The area many historic homes and apartments, a great tree cover, and it's a nice and short...

Re: Making Kansas City a State

I've read many Geo-political articles who's authors argue for the creation of a new state system.  The new states would contain a major city and its hinterland.  I can't seem to find any links right now, but many of the authors estimate the economic savings to be in the trillions as services and gov...

Does anyone know what is going on with the decorative crosswalks at Westport Rd. and Main St?  They still aren't finished.

I toured the model about a week and a half ago.  They are okay, but lacked creativity.

Re: Westport Road Ruminations

Has anyone noticed the sign posted in the parking lot of the former art supply store across from Osco on Westport RD?  Looks like a cool project.  Also, any news on the Osco building?  I'm sure CVS will keep the newer building at 39th and close this one.

What's up with the decorative crosswalks at Westport Rd and Main St?  They are still not finished.  Looks terrible and what happened to the streetscaping plans?

Re: Belleview and 44th

I've since discovered that it is a project being developed by a dentist.  Whether it will be a dentist office or not I do not know.  I do know however that the owner of The Point sold part of the lot to this dentist and a new parking lot will be built in addition to a building.

Re: Drive-thru Starbucks coming to Midtown

Here we go settling again.  Sure we don't need another check cashing joint along Main Street but this is neither exciting nor good news for the area.  This suburban minded, car dependent type of development is exactly what should be avoided in an urban area.

Re: walkable neighborhood fsbo's?

I recommend my neighborhood of Volker.  Your wife would most likely be able to walk to work and you would be within walking distance to many great restaurants not only on 39Th street but also in Westport.  Moreover it is also an easy walk or bike ride to the Plaza via Roanoke Pkwy.
