Re: Beacon Hill

Totally devoid of any originality and charm. Windows be overrated. Windows are super expensive both in terms of purchasing and how green a building is. For a company trying to maximize profits it's an easy place to cut back They're attempting to sell these for $400,000 in the East Side less than a ...

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

Here's an excerpt from a response I got from Robinson:

"Until economic dev resulting in people aging in place happens at the same clip ALL these projects (in my view) are/should be under scrutiny.

Thanks for your voice, while I value I disagree with some aspects; and so do many of my constituents."

Re: Misc Crossroads News

They had a taxpayer funded parking garage a block away that had free parking for customers. If parking was their problem, we might as well just give up and sell this city for parts.

Yes "normal" people ride the bus. Jfc. I think the average KC resident only goes by what they see at bus stops, and I don't see too many (zero) business casual, professional looking people waiting on the bus at any of those. Obviously "normal" people ride the bus, but we are talking about perceptio...

I don't think anything can be considered "iconic" if it just looks different than other stuff in a city.

Re: Affordable Housing

Every other housing expense but the mortgage is going up, though. You just don't see it on your monthly bill (aside from taxes and insurance) because maintenance issues and renovations are spread out and sporadic and people don't even account for trips to Home Depot and other minor expenses. Or thei...

Re: Affordable Housing

There is some wisdom to helping some Section 8 clients purchase houses. With rents climbing quickly, a mortgage is often cheaper than paying rent. If it's a fixed, 30-year-mortgage, that keeps the residents' monthly payments fairly stable. Homeownership is far less stable than renting. Your rent is...

Re: Property Tax Assessments 2019

After reading the background I have no issues with what the county did. It's on the ones who set the dates to lower rates now to assist taxpayers. Will any of them do it? Lol Even when they do that, though, it's not really going to help much for the people whose property value went up 300% (or 490%...

Let me rephrase: We should be seeking a much lower parking ratio than 1:1 within a 5 minute walk of the streetcar line.

Re: Tracks 215 Project

I don't get how this is a reasonable request in the slightest. The 150 parking spaces already exist. There is no public benefit to putting them in a garage. Building parking for the new residential, again, has no public benefit. We should be seeking a much lower parking ratio than 1:1 along the stre...

Re: 1822 Main Redevlopment

I don't see how building a bunch of taxpayer-funded parking garages gets away from catering to the car culture. It makes things worse. If the city's going to be involved in parking, it should be coordinating shared parking for residential/office/retail and opening up every private parking space to b...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

This is just proving how much City Market is missing the boat by not having a Christkindlmarkt on December weekend evenings. Serve Christmas-themed cocktails in the shelter with garage doors. Do a Christmas light show on the Steamboat Museum building. They'd make a killing.

Re: Five Light

I'm not buying that at all. The tower is mid-block so that corner isn't underneath it. They would have to take out Jos A. Bank as well to reach the elevators.

The mid-block lobby will be two stories and not that small square footage-wise, I don't see the issue.

Re: The Gallerie - 27th & Gillham Apartments and Condos

They must be pretty high-end considering the new townhouses the same developer built at 27th & Campbell still haven't all sold for less than $300k.
