Re: NHL OR NBA, let the message board decide!!
Ducks tickets are regularly <$20 when I've traveled to Southern California so I'm not sure that that's a relevant measure, it's probably very market-specific and average can be skewed if there's more of a market on the high-end.

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
Brah, not really. You've just called it trash and listed unrealistic comparisons in much larger cities with much more space. What is unrealistic about adding $50 million to a $200 million project to actually make it something worth building? Crown Fountain cost $17 million. Lurie Garden cost $13 mi...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
There are projects you build to spark tourism and there are projects you build for the betterment of your residents. Sometimes they do both but this project should be for the people of downtown first and foremost. I just completely disagree. This is too expensive of a project for it to only benefit...

I'm sorry, that comparison makes no sense.flyingember wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 4:46 pmKansas City is overrrun with bike lanes that no one uses. I look outside and don't see a bike in it.
You're making the same argument as people against bike lanes use and it's not a good argument then either

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
Yes, absolutely. That map is exactly what I was thinking when I called it boring green space. Sure, it's got swooping lines and nice landscaping but what can you actually do there if there's isn't an event going on? Literally, "flexible lawn" is a major part of 3 of the 4 blocks. How else would you...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
Yeah, I think you and the people who will be funding this are on completely different wave lengths. As a downtown resident, I want something like the original planned map and could care less if people from Nebraska drive all the way down here to snap a photo in front of a reflective item of art. I ...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
You keep mentioning Millennium Park. How in the world do you create something similar to the 25 acre, 600 million dollar (Today's money) park on 5 acres above a freeway? It's just not fair comparison not to mention the purpose of both parks are completely different. Millennium Park is first and for...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
The fact that you think this type of plan would get zero city dollars with hilarious and so inaccurate. If you think city council won't lose their minds if tens of millions in taxpayer dollars are going to be used, in part, to fund a private dog park, I don't know how to help you. I also really jus...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
Barney Allis is a joke. This park would be nothing like that. You described Barney Allis Park when talking about how great this place would be: "A place to take their partner for a picnic, kids to play, dogs to run or just a quiet place to read in the shade." You can't have a picnic in Barney Allis...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
The park should first and foremost be designed with the downtown resident in mind and not as a tourist attraction. This isn’t a 100+ acre park next to a Great Lake. It’s likely not going to have a world famous art installation like “the bean” that will inspire people from all over the region to dri...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
You act like this hasn’t been done in other cities. Is a dog park for its residents worth 3.4 million..... yes, yes it is. Let’s just drop the idea it would be for residents only and assume it’s open to the public. You are severely underestimating how important an off lease dog park is downtown. Th...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
A dog park in a park makes more sense than a dog park next to swimming pool and cooking area 8 floors above ground Why? artificial turf. Yes, they can figure out how to cantilever a swimming pool off the side of the 8th floor of a building over Main Street but putting mulch and shrubs on a roof wou...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
I'm starting to think you're just trolling because you can't be this slow. Let's see... A dog shitting onto an artificial surface, on top of a roof that's baked by the sun... right next to installed grills and a swimming pool or a dog shitting in mulch, on earth, surrounded by landscaping and shade...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
so for Two Light residents is to come down the elevator, walk through the 8th floor amenity sections with your dog, pass through the kitchen and bar area, exit outside, cross the sky bridge and reverse the process to get to a tiny dog park so your plan is for residents of all the Light buildings to...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
You think it's smart to take up outdoor amenity space 8 floors up, next to where people grill, swim, layout and socialize with a dog park? I've heard of some stupid ideas but this is up there. You think people who live in concrete buildings want to take their dog to yet another concrete building? S...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
Yes, 1000 square foot of interior, ground level retail space is far more valuable than 1000 square foot of space in a park in Kansas City. People who live in smaller downtown apartments want to get outside with their dogs, not into a concrete, windowless room with murals on the walls. Do you really...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
As I mentioned previously, it sounds like they're willing to make the dog park public. I love how people in this thread are acting like Cordish will completely back out without a dog park. Meanwhile, they give in on privatization the first time someone asks about it. Cordish isn't backing out of th...

I don't anything is going to change your mind. You're right. It's one of the most uniquely bad ideas I've ever heard in my life. And, your argument essentially boils down to Cordish is infallible and a private dog park isn't worth sacrificing the expensive revenue-generating space in Three Light fo...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
You talk like the park would be built just for the dog park. That's not the case. It would still feature all the things a world class park features. Green space, walking paths, a pavilion, children play area, art, fountains etc. Look at Klyde Warren park and tell me the small dog park ruins the ent...
