Re: New Broadway Bridge

One question here. With what I have seen in this thread, will the existing I 670 route handle the extra traffic that the elimination of the I 70 route will put on it. As I recall there is only one lane each way under Bartle Hall and putting 3 interstates together will only force this bottleneck even...

Re: Hyatt Crown Center to become Sheraton

As a member of Our Lady Of Gadelupe Catholic Church here in Topeka, the Hyatt is a very huge piece of our history. It was July 17, 1981 that the loby of this hotel was filling up for a tea dance. Our very own Mariachi Estrellia was scheduled to perform for this dance. As they were walking across the...

Re: Missouri River Degradation

I can't figure out why the Missouri River does not have sand bars like the Kansas and the Platte rivers. On a normal summer a person can walk accross portions of the Kansas. The Missouri river is faster flowing river granted but there should be some way to slow this river down to preserve the river ...

Re: I can't wait for the new smoking ban in Kansas City!

I also found out by reading the Topeka ordinance that the ban even includes the common areas in apartment buildings. This includes the hallways, stairwells and the club rooms of the complex. This also states that the area 10 feet outside of the front door of a publicly used building is also smoke fr...

I ate at Bronx delli today and was pleased with the experience. I and a couple of friends almost went to jimmy jiggers but looked at the prices of the entrees and decided against it.

I am trying to get to live the Washburn experience already by trying to go to the Ichabod and Lady Blues home games I enjoyed our 60 to 100 blowout against Baker last night. Though Bake...

With the health care debate comes another issue, the countless number of employers that do not offer health insurance to their employees currently. With the non existence of this insurance comes employees that do not get paid vacation time, paid sick leave, breaks during their shift and other benefi...

Re: I can't wait for the new smoking ban in Kansas City!

First of all I haven't been on for a while so I am trying to play catch up. On the subject of smoking bans, here in Topeka we have a smoking ban going into effect on the 5th of December. This includes bars and restaurants. This is a tough ban with the fact that if a patron is caught smoking in one o...

One of the reasons that I have not been posting lately is that there is no big developements anymore. plus the sorry state of the economy has pretty well shut me down from traveling to KC.

Re: Chiefs to rename Arrowhead Stadium

What I can not figure out is why they can not put one of those lifestyle shopping centers on the grounds of TSC that would be built to both arrowhead and Kauffman stadiums. This would keep the area around the stadiums hopping even when there are no games. This is being done near Busch III in St Loui...

For a long time they had a combination Grocery store and gas station that caught on fire and was rebuilt to another configuration. I orriginaly thought that it was the only main town.

Re: Will Sprint Arena (as seen in render.) be a KC icon?

I can not figure out why the seeting on the Northwest side of the bowl is set on what seams like temporary risers. You would have thought that they would have built it all on permanent concrete risers like the rest of the arena.

Re: The elusive media center pc - not here yet apparently

That is basicly what most of the set top DVRs are. They have all of the hardware needed to accomplish this end but with all of the copyright laws in place and the DVRs software controlled by the cable companies the machines are basicly a dumb terminal. With the hard drive in place and the capability...

As of Sunday August 3 2008 the bridge is finished and open for business. at 4:00 P.m. pedestrians were able to cross the bridge using the traffic surface. at 10:00 p.m. the bridge was open for vehicle traffic. looking at the renderings and the actual bridge, the bridge came out almost identical to t...

HOW DID THEY DO THAT? I have never seen a portable Olympic sized swimming pool before. That does look neat though.

Re: The End of Oil

Americans consume over 20 million barrels of oil a day - how many barrels of steak trimmings and cooking oil do you figure we go through in a day? This fuel could be mixed with ethanol to boost its bulk and provide a petroleum like consistency that older cars need to run.. I have also seen on the I...
