Re: Pickwick & Bus Terminal

I walk by this every day since I park in the Fed garage. Seems like they're working on it pretty quickly. Hopefully when it's done there is someone that can compel the city or some nearby property owner to actually take care of what is probably the worst epidemic of pigeon droppings in the city. The...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Going back to the Restoration Hardware and Halls space news...I have heard that instead of doing that the architects have found a way to open up more of the theater space, including somehow opening into the atrium of the old theater; they also want to use the roof to display outdoor furniture and we...

Re: Overland Park Commercial Update

I think the mgsports posts are useful. I like to know what new concepts are coming to the metro. Had no idea that Five Below or Sprouts were coming until I saw the mgsports posts.

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network

I am disappointed that secondary boxes can't be wireless, even if just for DVR'd programs. If U-Verse has the technology to allow it, I would think Google would have it too. Anyone know why this option isn't available on secondary boxes? I'm not looking forward to seeing how the Google installation ...

Re: Woodside Health Expansion in Westwood

So Woodside hired the Baldwin guy to design the employee uniforms? They all wear black t-shirts and slacks. They could have probably hired me to do that for less.

Re: KCK Update

Anyone know what's getting put in around 13th and Washington Blvd? There are two small buildings with activity going on, definitely some small, local entrepeneurs getting ready to open something. I'm worried that at least one of them will be another liquor store, the second building was formerly a b...

Re: KCK Update

I'm pretty disappointed by that Autozone location. I drove by a few weeks ago and saw them prepping the site and thought they were rehabbing a cool old building...a few days later it was torn down. This is a major intersection in an old part of KCK and now two of the corners have aftermarket auto pa...

You think a grocery store would work there when a Whole Foods is going in a few blocks away?

Re: Downtown Dry Cleaners

There is a place on the main floor of the Scarrit building that does dry cleaning. It's run by an Asian couple. I've used them for the past 5 years and have never had a problem

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network

I think the satellite companies are the only ones that foist an unwieldy contract on you, and I can guarantee that they do everything they can before the buildout to secretly get people to sign up for an extra year. For example, taking the free Sunday Ticket from DirecTV will get you signed up for a...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network

Just looking through the list for the Kansas and Missouri sides it seems like a lot of the construction is slated for Fall 2013, with a lot fewer neighborhoods on either side getting done in the spring and summer. I'm selfishly disappointed that they didn't follow through with the statement about bu...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network

Fall 2013 for my neighborhood in KCK (WestHeight). It says we were ranked #49. I thought construction would be a lot quicker. Good timing for me though, as that is when my DirecTV contract ends.

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network

So what are the expectations for how long the buildout will take? If I live in KCK can I really expect to have this service hooked up within the next year?

Re: Real Estate Listings of Interest (Metrowide)

Here's the source for all those pictures of 341 Gladstone: http://hyperblogal.blogspot.com/2012/03/historic-northeast-mansions-volume-7.html So what is that neighborhood like for the housing prices to be in that range? We are thinking of purchasing a home in Westheight in KCK and are wondering how ...

Real estate attorney suggestions/ other advice appreciated

My wife and I are planning on making a purchase offer for a home that we are currently renting. Since we are not using an agent and this is our first home we need a real estate attorney. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, any advice on what we should do prior to purchasing the home? It's an old...

New downtown restaurant

Anyone know what restaurant is going in near 11th and Walnut? It looks like there is something new going into where Fred P Ott's used to be. Some are speculating here that it will be a Pei Wei based on the decor.

The scavenger hunt led us to the mayor's office which has a chessboard. Apparently he's a big chess player.

Re: Chessboards on display in Kansas City

From the clues we've been given so far the Nelson is outside the boundaries of where this thing can be found. It's somewhere in the core of downtown.
