Re: Nica's 320
Menu on line seems ok, just given Kansas City what they want. Can't wait to give them a try. Seems like a fun place.

Re: Kansas City Club
The old Kansas city club had a restaurant on the top floor, when it was first opened it had an open roof. A restaurant on the 3rd floor also. A pool on the 12th floor and a track on 11th floor. About 50 hotel rooms for traveling members. I did many weddings in those old kitchens. Very nice building,...

butter_breath, I can't seem to find anything official (through a google search) in the laws about overtime pay for salaried employees. Do you happen to have a different link? http://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/fairpay/fs17d_professional.pdf The way it works for a learned profession (any chef...

None of that changes what sporting posted. Run your restaurant however you want but I promise you closing earlier than you posted will remove your place from many peoples minds. I never said close early I was adding that maybe it's not a good ideal to take customers after your posted hours. PS. I d...

Re: Is the P&L District underwhelming? 100% serious question
Great blog. You're absolutely right. Let's break it down even further. Hypothetical situation: Let's say that "Restaurant A" serves food till 10pm on a given night. On one particular night, maybe a Sunday or Monday downtown, it's "slow", and the last reservation shows up at 8...

interesting article: Power and Light District: Due to ongoing legal issues, I can only address the following... The lease was signed November 2007, and the Peachtree opened for business November 2008. Prior to opening the restaurant, the dress code controversy was in full swing. The economy was on a...

He wasn't being serious I don't believe. Serious as a heart attach, we entrust bar owners with the lives of our society. Protect their lives as you would protect your liquor license. That's why they make it a bitch to get so you won't take it lightly. The voters have spoken with passing of taxes fo...

If just one life is saved by this act then it is worth it, we all know the ban on smoking was to save lives from second hand smoke and hopefully we have begun to win the battle on lung cancer.. We shouldn't bitch if we have to toss out or check our ID to drink, at least we will see the fruits of our...

LOL where do you cook again? It is pretty funny to read twitters saying "downtown kc" and then refer to Plaza III or the like. The grinder part had nothing to do with the restaurant, it was a reference to the kill site and mass grinding hopper the beef is slung into. Even grass fed beef i...

Better watch it Lefty you are throwing eggs at the emerald city now..better run while they kick up and get their panties in a wad. I've decided to keep my comments to myself about Blanc, it was or is a shame for any independent restaurant to fold and leave town. It was never my cup of tea, if I'm go...

I went in there about 2 weeks ago, $10 for a hamburger and fries getting my receipt in a high heeled shoe and having a waiter calling me (a male) honey, is not for me and the burger is average. My only regret was the bill didn't come in a matched pair and in my size! The waiter must have really too...

if you locate in a taxpayer-subsidized "entertainment district" specifically designed for tourists/event traffic...YES you SHOULD be shamed for slamming the door in the face of a 14 year-old from Kentucky. it's not like this happened on the West Side or Longfellow...it happened 2 blocks a...

Tried this place last night, we really wanted to go to Grinders but I just can't bring myself to eat in that place again, we walked into both sides of Grinders and left. Maybe I'm just getting too old. It just reminds me of really bad bowling alley food. We really like Mary's the burgers are very go...
