They are putting up the banners on the building at 29th & Gillham. Says something about flats, condos and lofts. This area is really run down, I am amazed that there is redevelopment going on here. There is also the small retail center going in across the street and of course Union Hill and Crown Center expansion too. So, who knows. This corridor needs it, that's for sure.

Its a bit before my time, but part of this project is the Greenlease Cadilac building, which apparently was one of the first and largest Caddy dealers in the midwest. Also, I know a lot of you may have seen this article in the Star, but about 10 bullet points down the developer of this project is looking for bond money to help with funding.

Actually, the Greenlease Caddy building is not part of this project...All of Gillham Row is east of Gillham, the Greenlease Loft project is west and part of a Union Hill residential project between McGee Trafficway and Gillham. Both these projects together should serve as quite a boost to the area. Fully built, both should provide almost 1000 units. The good thing about the Gillham Row project is the affordability of the units.

Both projects will receive GO Bond money recently approved. Gillham Row for a park, Union Hill for infrastructure improvements.

Who is it that is the developer of this project? Is it Crown Center Redevelopment? If so, is this project part of their master plan for the area? How much area does Crown Center control to the south of Hallmark cards?

The developer of the Gillham Row project is Urban Coeur Development

All property within the Union hill project is currently owned by Hallmark, but the developer (not Crown Center Redevelopment) has an option on the majority of the land. The developer has done a number of other projects within the Union Hill area. The development plans basically coincide with Hallmarks previous plans of residential for this area.
