Well what's the latest on DST's Kirkwood Circle development? I heard they were trying to buy out the area by Caberet, Peanut, etc. to revamp and make a little more upscale. Caberet has sold and is looking for a place to move to.

When are they supposed to start doing something?

Looking at the plans for that as I type...should start pretty quick, they are keeping their plans for the main street area pretty hush hush for now though, but should be similar to the kirkwood site.

Just found a little bit of information about the project on the architect's website at http://www.nhdkm.com/images_menu/d_proj ... kwood.html.

Many of the units are now listed in the MLS and, not surprisingly, this is going to be a pretty pricey place to live. Prices range from $386,000 to almost $2 Million!

Stopped by the Kirkwood sales office at the site and they have a model of what they are going to build in the first phase. It's sweet! This is going to be an awesome development. From what I have been told, sales are doing very well too. Constrcution to start this spring.

With the 13 story tower, two five story buildings and more, plus the Collanade well under way not to mention other condo and office developments that in the works. Go plaza

Here is the website:

It should be very nice for the prices they are charging. Empty lots for $400,000 +, condos go over a million bucks!

I hope sales go well as it should help other developers get the courage to create more new urban housing.

It seems like most of the recent developments have been fairly high end - Conover Place, Adler Building, Kirkwood. It would be nice to see someone provide more options at the lower end of the market, around $150,00 to $250,000. As it is, most younger people are priced out of the market.

Last I heard, the Western Auto Condos have reduced there prices to even the mid 100's and that project will have a lot of units. I'm sure they will have upper end units as well though as the cheap ones might be the first floor condos with a view of dumpsters ;). I think there are several other lower ones like the Madison that should help, but your are right most are luxury condos. Those are the ones that make developers the most money.

Also looked at the Kirkwood Website. I have always liked the wooded area between the Walnuts and Sulgrave as I walk the area frequently. At first I didnt like the idea of taking away all that open space to put upper class residential. Though, after looking at Kirkwoods website, it was pretty impresive and the architecture seems to fit well with the surrounding pre war high rises. I didnt like how they fit the single family homes into the plan. They block the center park area from the higher density/more responsible development on the outside and create a unwelcoming park.

I feel better about the Kirkwood development after looking into it, though the amount of luxury cars at the on site information building reminds me that developers ussually have only one thing in mind.

Yeah I didn't really get the single family house plots either...seemed to take away from the "central park"...but there's probably more land there than the graphic made it seem like....

I emailed kirkwood and asked them to tell me the acre amount for the central park space.

was it there during the lighting? I was on roof of the Community Christian Church but only saw the Plaza Colonnade (I thought Kirkwood was further south behind Alameda, Sulgrave, etc...

No, it's been there for about a week, I say ;) it last weekend. But from most of the Plaza it's hiddend behind all the towers along Brush Creek. Even after the building is built, it will be mostly hidden by surrounding buildings. The Plaza is really getting dense.

The condos on Madison are nearly complete and the ones on Belleview are also nearly done (they look great).
