Showing their commitment to KC, Midwest Express intends to offer two nonstops to San Franciso. This will fill the void left by Vanguard as well as pick up a new nonstop destination that we lacked service to before. Great news.

It looks like American will now offer an additional non-stop from KC to LaGuardia starting May 1. This brings American's total daily non-stops from KCI to 21. Even though AA is giving the overhaul base the shaft, it's good to see their still considering KC for additional flights.

this is a nice addition to KCI. I've flown non-stop to NYC on Midwest, which I loved. maybe more competition will lower some prices.

Yet another KC aviation news item from today. Midwest Airlines received approval from the DOT to add an additional daily flight to Washington's Reagan airport. The story can be found at the following address:

Northwest Airlines plans to add flights to and from Milwaukee this summer. This is interesting because very rarely do airlines offer point to point service without stopping through their hub. Northwest seems to be going directly after Midwest airlines. Midwest already offers 5X a day. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I'm flying Midwest the first time in July....I hear great things.

It is odd for them to go point to point.

Midwest is a great airline. They fly brand new 717 with 2 by 2 seating. Wide seats with leather and if I remember correctly they offer meals. Great airline overall.

Yeah, last time I flew Midwest the default meal everyone got was a choice of prime rib or lobster.

Well for all of you that frequently travel to the Pittsburgh area, there is some bad news. US Airways plans to cut service in early October. Hopefully an LCC will pick up the route but who knows.

For anyone who plans on flying to Omaha: Mesa will offer one daily roundtrip starting Sept. 1. This was a route that used to have 5 dailies, but then went to 0 after 9/11.

They are a regional carrier, they fly under the United, Us Airways, and America West flagship. They will fly under the US Airways Express name I believe. http://www.mesa-air.com

Are people really going to use this? I'm sure there's plenty of business and personal traffic between Omaha and KC, but how long is the flight? 15 minutes?

The only reason this flight is happening is for maintenance reasons, so they can rotate aircraft at Kansas City. As far as anyone using it I will ask this question: Would you fly on a 19 seater prop plane to Omaha? I am sure that some people will use it but most people drive obviously.

Are you kidding me? Not get used?

I can't imagine there are too many corporate shakers who want to spend hours driving/being driven between these two cities. I have no doubt there is plenty of charter activity... all this does is add a 'budget' option (recall there were upwards of a 1/2 dozen flights that ONCE flew this route daily until everything was scaled back).

hours? It's under 3 hours from anywhere in KC to Omaha.

By the time someone from Overland Park or Lee's Summit reach KCI, they are 1/4 the way to Omaha ;).

Obviously it's all socioeconomically relative Trailer... 5-6 hours of driving for some corporate types is a LONG, LONG time... especially when there's the option of spending 'pocket change' to fly down in a fraction of the time.

To you and me? Of course we're going to drive.

Too bad there isn't an Amtrack train...now that would be nice.

If the Kings move back, maybe they can go back to being the Omaha-KC Kings. Then some local fans can use this flight to follow the team's home games.
