Hope I have this on the right block.  I've never heard of these folks, but based on a brief web search, they ar e a real catch.

"Bice Restaurant Group plans to open three restaurants in the Power & Light District: Bice Bistro, Bice Café and Bice Lounge.

In a release Tuesday, The Cordish Co., the district's developer, said that the three restaurants will share a two-story, 8,600-square-foot space at the northeast corner of Main and 14th streets. "

sounds like a good place.  i hope they're good - three establishments and 8600 sq ft is a lot of real estate if it's not good!

www.bice.ws for more info on their locations.. Seems like an excellent signing and pretty exclusive. The bar sounds awesome.

This sounds like a sort of Un-chain restaurant.  It should be a good fit for the P&L district.

I just ate at Bice in NYC about a month ago.

I would compare it to Figlio's: the place looked pretty classy, and the food is good, but not great.

The bar was pretty sweet too - a lot of dark marble.

Starbucks "Coming Soon" sign up on the north side of the H&R Block building...looks like the coffee shop is pretty close to being done.  Odd location for serving the rest of the district.

It certainly will keep busy with the HRB folks alone, but yes that's not the point. 

Yeah, maybe an odd site, but I don't think it's that bad since it will be right next to the Rep, the HRB lobby is a public space and has great art displayed for visitors to check out. You can easily get to it from the 13th and Main corner or you will eventully be able to walk up the plaza steps into the lobby form the South. 

I saw them deliver the true exterior sign the other day, so it should be going up soon.  The tall gal that works in City Center Starbucks will be working in the new Starbucks.

Odd location for serving the rest of the district.

i'm sure it will serve the P+L to some extent but isn't Latteland a confirmed P+L tenant?  seems like that's the true P+L coffeeshop, and starbucks is basically counting on HRB for the most part and maybe some other random foot traffic, P+L or not.

What will happen to the old Starbucks?

it will stay open.  most of the time when a new starbucks opens a manager and some seasoned staff from a nearby starbucks will transfer to the new one so it can hit the ground running.

The gal moving told me the old one stays busy enough from the customers within the building they are in.  Mainly, they are all excited about the additional location, because City Center Starbucks gets absolutely destroyed when there is a convention going on.

Not to get off topic here but talking about opening a new Starbucks got me thinking about the restaurant that I work at (Spangles). The three existing restaurants (Wanamaker, 21st and gage and Lawrence) were all training the employees for the new restaurant on 24 highway. If they (Starbucks) are wanting to get this restaraunt up and going right from the start they will be training the new employees at other restaurants before they transfer to the new one on the grand opening.
