All-star KC team to face arena design competition
Plan interests famous architect

Frank Gehry, a superstar of international architecture, is competing with an all-star team of Kansas City sports architecture firms for the opportunity to design a downtown arena.
The emerging competition presents an appealing but potentially thorny political choice for City Hall.
The local team of architects vying for the anticipated arena project offers a who's who of sports design. Gehry's name, meanwhile, is synonymous with the cutting edge. Among his works are the celebrated Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, and the new Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
