assuming your guests weren't complete squares, where in KC would you take them for:

breakfast?
coffee?
lunch?
happy hour?
dinner?
after-dinner drinks?
bar/club/late-night??

me:

breakfast: either Cascone's or the Nelson-Atkins brunch.

coffee: either Muddy's, Broadway Cafe, or Dean & Deluca (if i happened to be in JoCo).

lunch: LuLu's Noodles. hip, small, and delicious.

happy hour: i dunno. bar natasha?

dinner: wow. let's go with Trocadero, or Lidia's, or maybe MelBee's.

after-dinner drinks: segafredo zanetti.

latenight: Kabal...Segafredo...POSSIBLY XO, but not likely. maybe 313? maybe the dixie bell if my guests are particularly cool.

Breakfast: Napoleon Bakery in Westport, Succotash in the City Market, Cup and Saucer in the Rivermarket

Coffee: Coffee Girls in the Crossroads, Broadway Cafe in Westport, Rivermarket Coffeehouse

Lunch: Gate's BBQ on Brooklyn, Joe Joe's

Happy Hour: Too many to mention. Union Cafe, to enjoy Union Station and good pizza. Arun's Thai Place on 7th and Walnet and Kabal both go until 7

Dinner: Trocadero, Garozzo's, Sol Azteca, Pierponts, Max's Noodles, Blue Koi, Genghis Khan

Late-night: Skies for a quick view, Kabal, Velvet Dog, Bulldog, McCoy's, Blue Room, Phoenix, John's Deck, Bar Natasha

Of course, this just reflects my current mood, and I still couldn't narrow it down.

Actually I would probably cook. Going out to eat can get expensive. If I wanted them to get a taste of KC, definately Gates or Bryant's though.

Well, when guests visit, I try to fit the activities to them. For example, my little brother would want BBQ, so I'd take him to Arthur Bryant's. But my cousin rather have vegetarian, so we'd go to Blue Bird Bistro or Succotash.

breakfast - I usually just make them breakfast. But Panera is cool with me.
coffee - Broadway Cafe
lunch - Vietnamese place in the City Market
happy hour - Kona Grill
dinner - McCoys, McCormick & Schmidts, Jun
bar/club/late-night - Grand Emporium, esp. on Monday nights (Rural Grit), Davey's, The Brick, McCoys

Some of what I think are the coolest places right now...I'd hit them although I have no idea what order.

- Bulldog Bar & Bar Natasha
- Sedaferdo zanditti (you try and spell it)
- Kona
- 39th street D'Bronx
- Coffee Girls
- Kabal & River Market
- Empire Room & Velvet Dog
- Lulu's
- Misc. art galleries in crossroads
- Skies
