Big construction projects? Major Events? Big decisions? Project completions? Things to look forward too?
I guess the Buck O'Neil Bridge is slated to open in December 2024.
Big XII Tourney in March. A host of new teams will make it more interesting in 2025. Beyond that KC may not be hosting it as frequently (although KC remains geographically central in the new B12). KC is not a NCAA men's bball tourney site in 2024 but will host the men's division 1 wrestling championship.
It will certainly be interesting to see how the Plaza evolves through the year with a new owner.

KC Current stadium opens in 2024 I believe. Hopefully South Loop plans finalized & construction begins. Plus continuation of current projects and I'm sure a host of public works & infrastructure things will begin in earnest at some point in preparation for the world cup in 2026. This projects may not be "big" but should help to make the city put on it's dress clothes so to speak

Too bad the graffiti was allowed to return to pre NFL Draft levels. It would have been easier to keep at it than marshal the resources to do the entire city in a few months before 2026.

Several major entertainment/cultural venues set to open in 2024, all clustered around downtown:
CPKC Park/Current NWSL
Pennway Pointe
Rock Island Bridge
Rabbit hOle (NKC)
Hoping we finally get some details on the stadium situation with Royals and Chiefs, sooner than later.
Streetcar extension should be largely complete by the end of the year.
Buck Bridge reopening with direct connect flyovers to I-35 in December 2024.
Old MCI terminal demo should get underway; would love to see work started for the planned expansion of concourse A.
Fingers crossed the Plaza deal closes and Highland Park Partners can begin to work on improvements and tenant fill; looking forward to seeing the old theater/Nordstrom block finally infilled. Also hoping for the announcement of Museum Tower on the old Holiday Inn site - a high-end hotel/condo combo would be amazing there, although the current financial environment isn't doing us any favors.
Overall 2023 was a slow year for development in KC; hoping we see more momentum and maybe a few surprise announcements in 2024 as the push is on for World Cup 2026 and Royals stadium deal.

KCT burning the city, developers, housing providers and themselves more is an inevitable highlight of 2024. Unfortunately. Perhaps in the future a politician with a backbone will stand up.

Small potatoes by comparison, but Columbus Park may finally begin infill with SF and townhomes (at least prep work). Vacant buildings, however, may be worsening.
