1,200 jobs paying an average of over $65,000 per year and a $1.9 billion investment in Burlington, KS. The jobs and multiple out of state suppliers are great. But this product doesn’t seem as meaningful as the other projects. I guess if the market is there for it?

On a broader note, Kansas is really on a roll with these projects. Does Missouri have any CHIPS act projects in the works? You’d think the Blue River area has some potential for a similar project.

I hate hearing people complaining about these projects and how difficult it will be to find workers like Roger Marshall recently claiming that Wichita wouldn't be able to staff the Integra plant. BUT 1,200 new jobs in a city of 2,000+ people in a county of 8,300+ people? The nearest population center is Emporia. For THIS project I do have to wonder where workers will come from.

I haven't seen a projected timeline for this project. It's going to be difficult to find quality workers if this job is going on at the same time as the Battery plant. The nation as a whole is already experiencing labor shortages with mega data center/battery plants taking off all over the country. I am sure they will find a way though.

Great write up in Site Selector Magazine about the economic development in Kansas during 2022.
