Interesting story Bizjournal (Charlotte): Ikea changing directions from suburban big-box to focus on “online” and “smaller Urban Core" stores. They are canceling construction of a North Carolina location and perhaps others.

I don't see this affecting Merriam in the near future, though. The store was very strategically placed within the metro to serve the downtown/plaza, JoCo, Lawrence, and Northland markets.

Nashville location nixed.
