Historic KC theater will get encore as Disney World attraction

A new attraction planned for Disney World will pay homage to Kansas City’s influence on a young Walt Disney.

The company announced Saturday plans to build a new theater at the Orlando theme park modeled after the historic Willis Wood Theatre.

The theater was largely destroyed in a fire in 1917, and later demolished to make room for the Mark Twain office tower.
