Anyone notice if there is any stoppage of activity at Katz?

Drove by today. There’s crews working it and they’re 60-80% done with the windows.

Doesn’t look to me like anything is being done on the “historic” part. Might be irrational but I’m having faith.

Additional Permits filed in December for this project. Moving forward I would think

I bet they just finish sealing it up from the elements and sell it unfinished.

I assume this means the Katz building will meet the same fate.

I would assume as well. Shame LuxLiving got hit with the issues and and even bigger shame they were the developer behind so many projects active & in the pipeline for KC. Hopefully new developers will be able to be found to finish the work started and go after the proposed development.

I walked by this development there today. There was a small crew working and, if I had to guess, they were weatherproofing the place as they seemed to be stapling some type of plastic material across the open air parts of the building. There were lights on inside as well. I noticed the construction staging area occupies an entire lane of Broadway. I can understand the city having patience as they don't want to see the project go unfinished but at what point do they demand the clearance of the roadway if this project goes into hibernation?

I'm fine with the traffic calming. The lane drop makes space for a pedestrian walkway on the west side of Broadway (assuming that's still accessible).

Does this have internal fire suppression installed?

If that’s sits empty and unfinished while waiting for a buyer for any long period of time, then this is a five alarm fire waiting to happen. See Raleigh March 16, 2017.

The original seller confirmed this. Very concerned of the potential hazard until someone responsible takes over.

Is sealing it up part of the construction process, or is this to mothball the project until someone else picks it up? I’m slightly confused

Great picture showing the relative scale of this project. Pretty substantial in terms of the area it covers and height. Hope it doesn't stay sealed for long and they finish or sell to someone that can. Perpetually unfinished projects have a third world feel to them after a while.
