I suppose just so I’m not posting negative news, an ad agency officially moved their HQ from Wichita to Westport. Primary reason being their entire C Suite already worked out of KC

Keep in mind they also recently moved their headquarters from KC to Nashville. Either way unfortunate to see what's happened to them.

Smucker just bought Hostess. There goes another long-time KC company via merger. Hopefully they’ll keep some presence here.

What a dumb purchase this was by Smucker, Who seriously eat Hostess anymore? I never see people buy the stuff at gas stations. They are kind of expensive, horrible for you and some of the other flavors they have outside of Twinkie and cupcakes look kind of gross

Distribution network, shelf space, name recognition, and facilities. Those are the hard things to get. You can change products and flavors. Getting shelf space is the hardest part.

Could be worse for Emporia than us as the Lenexa bakery never reopened. The Emporia bakery has been one of their more stable employers since the college and Tyson majorly cut back on staff.

2000 jobs. Not great for the local economy and who knows how long it will last.

VMLY&R to become the worlds largest creative company via a merger with NYC-based Wunderman Thompson. Combined company will be known as VML and Jon Cook, current VMLY&R CEO, will be CEO of combined company.
Moving forward, Mel Edwards, who previously led Wunderman Thompson, will be global president. The management team will include a mix of both companies, including Kansas City-based Debbi Vandeven, who continues as global chief creative officer.

Would be cool, but there are only like 800 employees here in KC. Everyone else is spread out over there other various locations in other cities all over the world. It would be cool if they could perhaps bring some job into the Metro and increase their presence here. A sleek, well designed, modern office tower would be an awesome add to downtown. I guess we'll have to see. Luckily Jon Cook is a KC guy through & through. He's the CEO so I do not see a negative impact on KC from this merger, only good stuff :)

800 is more than enough for an anchor tenant. Wife just worked on a single-tenant, 19-story tower in Philly (no parking podium) for ~900 employees.

Rare to see a merger that might actually work out in KC’s favor for once. Here’s hoping. Honestly though, with 800~ employees in KC, it could be a significant tenant as part of a more speculative tower downtown for sure. If Strata is still intent on maintaining an office component, then I could see that being more of a possibility, otherwise one of the Royals towers/buildings might be viable like was mentioned above.
