it has all the downsides and none of the upsides of the streetcar

1. it's more expensive. 1/5 that of a subway is quoted. At $1 billion per mile for a subway that would make it 10-20x the cost of the streetcar. We could get track halfway to the airport for the cost of one mile of this.
2. add to the cost for the US. they don't bother with things like stops. not being ADA compliant will kill it. so now we need to build expensive elevated stops with elevators
3. their mockup has everyone own compact cars of consistent height. No delivery trucks, tall vans, etc mean the height just goes up real world
4. it also requires everyone to drive perfectly within the lines and park within the lines. At 45 seconds in look at the far side how crazy good the mockup parking is. This just isn't realistic
5. it's not going to handle less than perfect street designs. basic logic says a longer wheelbase requires gentler curves to not hit cars and smoother grades.
6. now notice what's missing. traffic signals, trees that overhang the street, etc. so this means redoing everything along the street more than even the train did
7. think of the mess to turnaround. the mockup avoids this by sending it in one huge perfect loop

Overly complicated solution.

this car-centric design also assumes drivers (whose cars might be in motion) won't be frightened by the large object appearing overhead.

Wait until this vehicle gets a leak. (Since it will get a leak)

How many cars would have a claim for damages?

A Chinese inventor’s plan to develop such a vehicle, called a “traffic-straddling bus,” has been effectively killed after 32 people from an investment company that backed the project were arrested.
