The walls are going in. Looks like a structure in the lower east lot too, design looked like a parking garage

Here is a photo of construction of a new structure the site of the former City Ice Building, and some sort of addition on the existing warehouse building to the east.

Does anyone have any idea what is going into these buildings?

I don't mind the building. What I don't get is having a building with somewhat interesting architecture and then adding the most generic-looking parking garage ever built right next to it.

Sadly it looks like the garage violates city code...

code says must set a garage back from the sidewalk and provide green space or hide it at ground level.

In theory, they had to submit plans to get their permits. So, I'm guessing they had approval.

University Health opens in downtown KC
University Health, with services provided by Truman Medical Centers, opened at 2101 Charlotte St. in downtown Kansas City Wednesday.

Construction kicked off for the 90,000-square-foot outpatient specialty care center in July 2014. The new facility cost $29 million, and opened for patient care earlier this month.

A new garage is being constructed north of Children's Mercy Hospital on Hospital Hill. It appears that the first, and about half of the second level, are below grade on the south end. Kenwood Avenue runs along the east side of the garage, and 23rd Street in on the south end of it.

Children's Mercy uploaded their new Master Plan to the city's planning department. Ambitious plans over time.

Children's Mercy Hospital has begun construction of another building on the north side of E. 22nd Street, and west of Holmes. The first phase of the building appears to be a garage base structure, and there appears to be plans to add more floors later as the hospital expands.

That should be a pretty prominent addition to the skyline in that area. 9 stories on top of a garage on a hill?
