http://singlewingcreative.com/ owns that site, hmm. diamonds? kinda derivative :/
Re: KC Rebranding?
I know that they are circulating a new logo at city hall to replace the fountain glyph. Not as the official seal, but just as the city logo. ITs supposed to just be a KC in the style of lettering that's on city hall uses for its "CH" on everything:longviewmo wrote:Anyone know anything about this? Apparently it's happening tomorrow.

Re: KC Rebranding?
Noticed an interlocking KC like that on the city newsletter book that was in the mail yesterday.
Re: KC Rebranding?
Similar to the one the Mayor has been using on social media for a couple years? I thought that was an old Monarchs logo.
If they're moving away from the fountain glyph, maybe it's time to reopen discussion about that awful city flag.

That is the Monarchs' logo
Re: KC Rebranding?
Interesting. I like the idea of a graphic rebranding for the "new" KC, a place that is still becoming whatever it is going to be.
Also sounds like the perfect time to update or create a new city flag. One of my absolute favorite things about StL are the city flags flying in front of urban homes. The last time I was at Midway Airport in Chicago I enjoyed a Chicago city flag cookie. The same thing should be possible here. Bold, timeless design.

Re: KC Rebranding?
I hate it, looks cheesy too much copying of the Monarchs logo.
Re: KC Rebranding?
I like it, but not the color that they used to introduced it. thenewkc.com website states that the logo can be used with any color scheme though.pash wrote:I kind of appreciate the sentiment, but designing a new "classic" KC logo is an impossible task. Even if you do it well, you end up with something that looks like a web-designer's needless re-do of a Monarchs or A's logo. Something that looks like that.
I would have just co-opted the Monarchs sleeve patch, the one with the KC in a heart. (Although that would probably come off as a knock-off of I-Heart-NYC.)
Re: KC Rebranding?
its like a knockoff monarchs hat one would find at cargo largo.
and even if the teal colored background isn't part of the design, it affords the whole affair a very dated, "saved by the bell"-esque feel.
i feel like this should be on a circa-1994 Starter jacket.

Re: KC Rebranding?
They probably thought the Monarchs "C" looked too much like the one used as the Cincinatti Reds logo.

Re: KC Rebranding?
Full disclosure. I am friends with the Singlewing gals, though have not discussed this project with them.
We don't necessarily know how much license they had or the background for the project. The mayor could have essentially come to them with an idea to leverage the Monarchs logo for the city.

Re: KC Rebranding?
I don't think it is so bad. The colors they used to unveil it aren't the best. Much better than the fountain heart.

other than the use of teal, I have no clue what you're talking about.chrizow wrote: it affords the whole affair a very dated, "saved by the bell"-esque feel.
Re: KC Rebranding?
I like it. It gets the message across in a more direct manner than the fountain-heart, so anybody will know what city it is. I also like that it's just the two simple letters, no add on for state--this is *the* KC.
It's probably looking into it too deeply, but I wonder if it's also a statement on the current political situation in Jefferson City? They think they don't need the cities, so the City says it doesn't need the state.

Re: KC Rebranding?
I agree that the old logo was bad. People from KC get the city of fountains reference, but I doubt if anyone else did.
I don't like the color scheme of the new one. Way to dark and monitone. Maybe that cuts cost when putting the new logo on vehicles but cheap isn't always better.
